This is a beautiful and historic cathedral. We came upon a wedding so were not able to see the full experience.

It's one of my favorite places in Lviv. This Dominican Cathedral is so beautiful. I'm excited of its architecture. It looks so majestically and inspiring!!

We arrived in the late afternoon when most of the day trippers left the City.

It was a bit dark inside but when we walked closer we could see how ornate the church was inside.

As with many Ukrainian churches, a small fee is charged if the visitor wishes to take photos and videos. There is no fee to enter the church.

The complete Latin inscription “Soli Deo Honor et Gloria” at the facade of this cathedral cools only be read by God. From the street one can only see parts of the inscription. On this spot a wooden church existed to the honor of prince Leo, the namesake of Lviv. The present baroque church was built later. During Soviet times churches were forbidden and the reason this church still exists is the fact that the cathedral was used as a museum of atheism.
