Overview
More
Galerija Meštrović houses the masterpieces of Ivan Meštrović carved in marble, bronze and wood. The house was built based on Meštrović's design (1931 - 1939), and was intended to be his family summer residence, working studio and exhibition space. It is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden which, with its bronze sculptures and the view of the sea and of central Dalmatian islands makes a unique example of landscape architecture.

This villa was built along the Dalmatian Coast by the well known Croatian sculptor and artist, Mestrovic. His life story was interesting as he was well connected with key political figures. He moved to the US in 1947. The gallery is a collection of his...More

The sculptures and carvings along with a few paintings were great. The admission includes a small chapel nearby with many carved panels. We would recommend this museum. I will add that it is NOT wheelchair accessible.

Some of the most beautiful paintings and sculptures in the world. There is a sculpture of Job that is unbelieveable. The size and detail is something you have to see to believe. Mestrovic was one of the greatest authors, sculptors and painters of Croatia and...More

The building and grounds are a perfect place to showcase the work of this artist. Don't miss the building across the street where you will find the chapel and the artists work with wood. Gorgeous.

I had not heard of Ivan Mestrovic before visiting Split. How impressive is his work! If you like Rodin, you'll like Mestrovic. Bus 12 from Sv. Frane will get you there in minutes, or it's just a short taxi ride away.
