This massive convent was a thriving community of nuns from 1736 until the 1773 earthquake, after which it was abandoned. Now open to the public, tranquil gardens, sparse nuns’ cells and a terrific view from the roof make this a popular attraction.

We probably learned much more than we expected due to our tour guide being an expert on the history and significance of this particular convent. It has 18 circular living quarters that are most unusual. Definitely worth a visit while staying in Antigua.

This might be one of the most beautiful places in all of Antigua. Attended a wedding at the Convento de las Capuchinas, and was really impressed by the architecture and atmosphere.

The large cloister features a lovely fountain and is surrounded by bougainvilleas in bloom of all colours. As there are no signs, you have to find your way, and make sure you do because otherwise you'll miss the lovely cool garden at the back and...More

And one of the coolest places in all of Guatemala, period. The ruin itself is not that ruined, to be honest, and is a very nice place in which to wander, especially the gardens and the courtyards. But the most interest place is the circular...More

If you only have time to visit one ruin, this should probably be the one! The main courtyard with the fountain and bouganvillia around the arches is a beautiful place for photos! Upstairs is a museum with many ruins and artifacts.

This was one of my favorite sights. Especially interesting were the nun's cells, each with their own toilet, built in a circle around a central patio.

When in Antigua be sure to visit the beautiful ruins of Capuchinas. The site is very historic and sensitive people will feel the spiritual energy. We actually brought our ghost meter! It didn't pick up much except in one or two isolated spots which was...More

Hi. The beautiful wedding we saw was at San Jose el Viejo. It is a gorgeous spot. I am nearly sure that Porta Hotel Antigua (which is right across the street) has exclusive access to this site. I hope that helps
