This monumental arch was built as a passageway between the monastery and adjoining school. The buildings were constructed to accommodate an increase in religious followers during the 17th century.

It's not really much except to take a picture and that's it. It's not a huge deal but it is beautiful.

Don't miss seeing the arch. I would say it is a symbol of Antigua. I especially liked visiting early on Sunday when there was no traffic.

You haven't visited Antigua until you have been here. Great photo ops, especially with the volcano in the background. Visit morning and night. Street is closed for pedestrian traffic only on the weekends.

In the most popular night spot if Antigua, the town comes to life at night around this arch. A must see and hang out in the evening with a glass of wine.
