It is important to reflect on history, whether negative or positive so people do not repeat the mistakes or misdeeds of the past.

This is a nice historical statue at the foot of Ego Alley which commemorates Alex Haley and his work. It is close to nearby carry-out food vendors, so it is common for folks to eat their snacks or lunch there. Nothing too dramatic, you will...More

This sculpture is a fitting tribute to Alex Haley and his contributions to the world. Mr. Haley is seated, relaying his family story to several small children. It evokes many emotions to the viewer, bringing back the story of "Roots" to our minds, hearts and...More

This statue in the middle of Downtown Annapolis portrays the statute of Kunta Kinte who helped teach the young people how to read. Worth a look.

On the Saturday we were in town, there was a local Kunta Kinta festival going on at the dock. Several dozen popups, food, vendors, music... We strolled around for about 15 minutes.

Not exactly a destination. Interesting if passing by. Statue catches the eye but make time to read the plaques along the walk. Really bring to mind images from Roots.

It is at the wharf, in a corner. Not much to say about it accept perhaps a place to seat, if the seawall is filled.

If you are walking through downtown Annapolis, make a stop at the Kunta Kinte - Alex Haley Memorial which honors the author of "Roots" and remembers those who were brought to this nation in bondage.

Check out the lawsuit by Harold Courlander against Alex Haley. The story did not spring from Alex's thought train but rather railroad somebody else's intellectual capital
