Comfortable way to cross Panama between Colon and Panama City. The observation car gives great views of the scenery, the canal, and the lakes.

We enjoyed going on this train trip as part of our in-depth Panama Canal trip. It has a new area to sit and see the views as the train travels through the jungle.

We took the 7:15 am train from Panama city to Colon and it was great! Make sure you sit on the left side as that is where the canal is. Views are great, though it can be chilly due to the air conditioning. They served...More

Taking the Panama Canal Rail train from Panama City to Colon and back is a great way to experience the Panama Canal. The price is worth it. For $25 per person each way, we rode in the observer deck car (the best place to be...More

The train trip was included in our 9 day group tour of Panama. If we had been traveling alone, we most likely would have booked it as it sounded neat to traverse a 150 year old railroad. The dome car was fun to sit it...More

We took the train from Colon to Panama city in the afternoon. I would not recommend doing it that way during the rainseason, because it will be dark when you reach Panama City, which is a shame. The rest of the experience was really nice,...More

Having spent 5 days transiting the canal, we saw NOTHING new from the train. It only runs once a day each way, and the schedule is not convenient - you end up in rush hour traffic when you disembark and end up spending more time...More

Our family enjoyed stepping back in time and riding the historic railroad. A snack and coffee were included. We loved the views of the jungle and canal along the way. A good alternative to the bus--and no traffic!

Hey Fillmyboots, if I was on a balcony of cruise ship through the canal, I would skip the Panama City Railway. You will be right in the heart of the best parts. The railway goes in and out and really does not go by the... More

The train departs early morning (7 something) and returns in the afternoon. I do not recall the guide. We visited the port and the stores. We had lunch in a restaurant there.
