Piata Universitatii is a very important square in the center of Bucharest. There are a lot of important buildings, like University, National Romanian Theater, Hotel Intercontinental, so on. There is the main place for social or political protests.

Located on the edge of old town, worth a visit for the visitor interested in the history regarding, the fall of communist Romania. The square was the scene of a friendly protest by students in 1990 that turned violent. Now a days still a popular...More

Marvellous architecture is to be appreciated in and around the square. Notable is the wonderful university edifice with a quartet of sculptures in front honouring notable personages including Michael The Brave. Bucharest downtown, located right in the city centre, is a very good meeting place because if you start your walking tour from here you have many options: Piata Unirii, Piata Romana and Piata Victoriei, from here is also close Cismigiu Park.

Located right in the city center.. living here almost 10 years.. great vibes.. lots of students all over.. a bit noisy area though especially in weekends..

While this is a very touristic part of town (next to the Intercontinental hotel), the square itself is not that interesting, but rather the surrounding buildings and parks. To top it all, it's quite noisy and hectic, day and night.

Actually it is more a junction of two highways than a square. However the buildings rounding it are well worth a look at. Most of them like the university and the municipal museum are in neo-classical Viennese style. Hence there is the new modern theater....More

It is a special place for protesters since December 1989 from Romanian Revolution against comunist regim. Here is the National Theatre, Intercontinental Hotel, University of Bucharest.
