Overview
More
Since 2008, Artmark came to the fore as a promoter of both Heritage and Contemporary Romanian Art and also as a driving force of the Romanian Art Market, helping to shape and boost its development to the level of great international art markets. Artmark is situated in the heart of the Romanian capital, just a few steps from the Romanian Athenaeum, the Central University Library, the National Museum of Art of Romania, and it is housed by one of the most important historical buildings, Cesianu-Racoviță Palace. The Palace was the build in the late 19th-Century by the French architect Jules Berthet after the desires of Cesianu-Racoviță family who wanted a place similar to Versailles. Also, the Palace was among the first buildings that had electricity, running water and central heating, these conditions being available only at the Peleș Palace and Bucharest Royal Palace. Artmark is the place where history, culture and visual arts meet altogether to build the imaginary album of your experiences in Romania. Meet here, the famous Grigorescu and his paintings showcasting the rural beauty, Tonitza and his portraits, haunting your childhood innocence, Luchian and the his flowers tingling your senses. As you continue your trip through romanian arts, Artmark will make you discover that Ghenie, the famous romanian contemporary artist is not an unique phenomenon and more other emerging artist are on their way to international notoriety.

Impressive collection of art in an attractive building, on just the right scale for a 1hr visit. Rotating displays / exhibitions every 2-3 weeks, no entrance fee, friendly people. Must see!

Artmarks is an auction house, but if you want to visit an old house in Bucharest that host lots of pieces of art and maybe buy one, this is the ideal place.
