Located in the center of the city. It is though the only religious place in Sofia you have to pay entrance. At the time we came no one was doing any explanations or telling the story as we read there is normally. The synagogue is...More

After getting screen by security i decided not to go inside due to the person at the door. So a quick look around was enough for me. It does cost 4lv to enter

Amazing building, with a daily minyan if that matters to you. Highly recommended, although they often open a bit later than scheduled and close a bit earlier.

Our guide Leon was really informative and friendly. The Synagogue is beautiful. Well worth a visit when in Sofia.

Beautiful synagogue that rivals the one in Budapest. Worth seeing while in the center of Sofia and close to other major sites.

Amazing building from the outside. You can see inside if you pay 4 lev (less that £2). The two-tonne chandelier is worth that fee alone. An impressive building.

Beautiful synagogue showing the integration of Jewish people in Bulgaria. There is an interesting story of how Bulgaria treated Jews during WW-2, saving 50k of them from the Holocaust.

This synagogue is really beautiful. With the exception of the roof it doesnt have the church or synagogue feel to it. It has a bit more conventional look. Was told its the old in europe and stands proud in sofia as an exceptional architectural masterpiece....More

One of the largest synagogues in Europe ... and, after visiting a number of Bulgarian Orthodox churches, a nice change of aesthetics. The staff is (reasonably) cautious and there's a security check (with a hand-held metal detector) once you've been buzzed into the courtyard. Cost...More
