This island of tears is situated in a lovely neighborhood..monument is beautiful and so was the story tho a little sad..Nice place to explore and walk around, personally I enjoyed my walk..

Belarus has only been independent for 26 years, and they still feel the pain of WWII. This is a simply designed memorial with so much sadness and yet so much pride.

Unfortunately impossible to learn on-site what it means if you don't speak Russian. I read in another review that it'd be about the Afghan war.

Set in the midst of a large park this is a sombre and moving memorial erected by the mothers of lost soldiers. The statues I was especially impressed by and the island itself is a nice walk. One of the sights you simply must visit...More

a very moving experience. We've heard so much about the war and the stress to families and it hits home when you are actually there
