I went to hike Mount Dajti; however, the trail goes through a military zone and you can't gain access. I was massively disappointed. On the top where you get off the cable car, you'll find cafes, viewpoints and observation decks, a miniature golf course, playgrounds and an old abandoned hotel. I walked a trail and came to an information center where I got a brochure and I decide to walk a trail to castle walls and a cave that you can explore. The brochure said follow the road to the "Y" and that's where the trail was. No trail to the left, center or right of the "Y." Nothing marked! So, I followed the road until I came to a location where the brochure said I could also gain access to the castle walls and cave. I went in the brush and walked a creek and came to nothing. At least, I got to see many bunkers and had some views of Tirana. Walking back, I found a clearing at some bunkers and decide to go in and take a look. I came to some stairs that led to an ancient city that wasn't in the brochure. Then, I spotted an open space under a huge rock that first appeared to be a cave opening. I doubt this was the castle walls and cave to explore. There's nothing to explore! It's a small place where snakes, tortoises and lizards can hang out. So, I guess I discovered an ancient city since it wasn't in the brochure or on the map. It's definitely not castle walls as I've been to many ancient cities and this is what it is. I should have staked my claim and charge admission to my discovery. Over all, disappointed I couldn't hike to Mount Dajti!

Amazing views! Cost €14 euros for a return, the cable car was around 20 minutes and the views were amazing. It wasn’t busy at all. There was lots to do at the top and the cafe was nice. Views were unbeatable! By far the best thing I did in Tirana !

On the day I went to this site it was slightly rainy. On the way up the cable car suddenly jerked and stopped in the middle of the route and I was left swinging in the air. On the way back down same thing for like about 5 minutes. It was really scary just stuck there in mid air going no where. When arrived to the top of the it was cold and but wet with not not to see or do because it was almost dark. Also the glass on the cars are so Stratched up that filming is worthless. Plus I think it cost too much for this ride.

The time it took to actually get on the car or for them to make up their minds to send the car up messed with my ride.anyhiw to be fair I bet it is a nicer time up during the summer.

We took a blue line no.11 bus from Tirana city centre to Dajti. Amazing value fare at 40 Lek (approx. 35p) for a 25/30 minute journey. We were looking forward to a hike in the mountains and a drink in the revolving bar at the panorama café where the cable car ride ended. The cable car cost 1400 Lek each (approx. £12.50) which I felt was expensive by Albanian standards. We had thought about taking the cable car up and walking down but were told that this would take around 3 hours and the temperature was touching 40 degrees on the day of our visit. The cable car ride takes around 15 minutes but the scratched and graphitised plastic windows spoilt the views. When we arrived at the top there was little to do. Some of the advertised attractions were closed, the mini-golf was extremely basic - one of the worst I have ever encountered and the views were not that spectacular. The panoramic café was closed and looked like it had not been open for a long time. There should be a discount on the cable car tickets if the major attraction was unavailable. There is no signage for the hiking route/s and we could not find a path, so gave up and travelled back down the mountain. Not the experience we had hoped for.

Really beautiful panorama on the top of Dajti Mountains, close to Tirana, the capital city of Albania. The cable car can be reached by public transport as well but you need to change more times. Of course, taxi can be another option.
There is a panorama café on top of the hotel but it was unfortunately closed. The park area is really nice, green and flowery.

It's more for families than for solo travellers or couples.
And the reason is that once you are atop, there are many activities for kids and grown-ups but if you plan on going there only for the view, it's not worth it.
The ride is 1200 lek (10 euros) back and forth.
My biggest disappointment was the cabin. The PVC windows are scratched all over because of inconsiderate tourists doing graffitis and therefore you don't see anything through the windows anymore. Meaning it's a long 15-minute ride with nothing to see :( Had they made the cabins with glass, it would probably be nicer to look around.
And once you are atop, there are no explanation about what you are looking when you stand on the vista point. It would be nice to have a panel telling you about the towns and islands and mountains you see in front of you.
Honestly, it's an activity you can skip while in Tirana...
Go to Bunk'Art 1 instead!

Views from the cable car stop are beautiful! It is a further 2 hour hike up to the peak - follow the sign “col of qershia” and the white and red markings and the signs to mount dajti. Towards the end, There is a path that you follow which leads to a no entry restricted access zone, however before there is a hidden path up to the what is not the peak but the most beautiful views of the area (check on Strava, that’s how I found it!) - some pictures below to help!

The cable car to the top was lovely, but the experience after that was disappointing. There are cheesy, kitschy amusement park activities and an overpriced restaurant. I was kind of excited to rollerblade, but it was confined to a small concrete rink that didn’t look much fun at all.

2 positives: the view was gorgeous, and it was much cooler at the top than down in Tirana.

Another plus for me was that there were beehives. I really like bees and enjoyed this, but would definitely not recommend coming up to anyone who is afraid of bees since they are everywhere.
