Because there are great, astonishing churches in several other cities in Cusco, this church looks quite simple. There are very few paintings and statues. Sadly, most of the original paintings were stolen several years ago.

The Iglesia de Santiago Apostol is on Calle Ventiderio, Ollantaytambo, not far from the market on Plaza Ruinas. It's a simple small town church, constructed partly from stone taken from the nearby Inca fortress ruins.

We stopped there last week after shopping at the market next door and very much enjoyed their ceremony. The place is very plain and simple with really nothing spectacular or very flashy, making it a very peaceful place for reflection and prayer. Definitely worth stopping...More
