Not worth the diversion
May 2018 • Couples
Having walked for 5 days in the mountains this was a proper let down, grubby and poorly maintained. The museum was much better

Slovenly nature walk and clean water, cold but worth a swim. Great waterfall, not massive but able to really enjoy,.

Walk from town is about an hour and a half. Along the train tracks. Walk up to waterfall is really pretty and gets you into the bush land. Great fir those who want to walk but not go crazy climbing to Macchu Picchu. We both swam in the waterfall in winter. Clean water, cold but so refreshing. Lovely bush walk. X

Run down
Jun 2017 • Couples
Saw the sign, got excited, then got extremely let down.

It's abandoned, things are falling apart, and we weren't sure what we would've seen 'back in the day' anyway.

Healing plants
Jan 2017 • Friends
Plants where really important for the Incas, not just for food but also to keep them healthy, inside Machupicchu you will discover a small botanic garden with the names of some of the most important plants the Incas used to heal themselves and also for sacred uses.

Makes the terraces come to life.
Sep 2016 • Couples
The agricultural terraces at Machu Picchu were quite something. There were three types of terraces (structural, agricultural and ornamental), and it would really be something to see them ALL planted up and in use: the structural terraces supported the site making it large enough and strong enough to hold up the weight of a city on the saddle of a mountain; the agricultural terraces grew crops like corn, quinoa, potatoes and squash that fed the people; the ornamental terraces grew medicinal herbs and beautiful flowers. This particular site was a demonstration plot of one of the ornamental terraces. See it with a knowledgeable guide if you are at all into plants as it is fascinating to see today plants that were in use centuries ago, and learn what those uses were.

A Place to Relax After Machu Picchu Tour
Mar 2016 • Couples
This garden is located at the end foot of Machu Picchu. There are plenty of tropical trees, several tens of orchids and butterflies. If you still have time after Machu Picchu then you can relax at this garden before returning to Aguas Calientes.

If you have the time, it's worth the while
May 2015 • Friends
If you're afraid of heights or too tired to climb anymore, this gives you a good feel for what can be seen, vegetation wise, in the area. It's easy to walk to as it's on the outskirts of Aguas Calientes. It's not crowded with people and the person who worked there was more than willing to share his information.
