Finally were able to come to Peru, doubting to not making it in 2020. Even if it was strange to wander around with masks all the time, the guys from exploor did an exceptional job throughout our entire stay in Cusco. Peter was glorious, such a passionate guide. Happy we had him with us. All the logistics, from the private transportation to the train, they always made temperature checks, alcohol was available wherever we were, and everyone wore masks. The good thing is, that the amount of entrances is limited, we were lucky that exploor helped us organizing last-minute tickets, but you're paid off when you enter. There are almost no travelers around and everyone keeps a safe distance. We highly enjoyed Machu Picchu, it's impressive and even better with less tourists! Glad we made it, and hope Cusco will bloom soon again, it's a beautiful place.

Just visited Machu Picchu with my son and what an amazing historical site...the views, the history, the rich cultural beauty, the architecture...not crowded at all..probably less than a 100 people in the citadel....despite the rainy season we lucked with sunny skies...Huana Picchu is closed at the moment so you can only visit Machu Picchu...also the path to the Sun Temple is temporary closed...most of the longer hiking tours are still closed however was told that the 2 day / 1 night hike is open now...while a guide is not required, I'd certainly recommend getting one...the guides are no longer allowed to congregate at the site entrance so you have to get one in Agues Caliente...your hotel can arrange it for you...we paid $60 (which includes $10 tip) and it was well worth it...our guide Hilberto spent more than 3 hours on site with us and was a wealth of knowledge.

Inexpensive gifts that can be picked up for friends. Sometimes you need toys and christmas presents, scarfs for the people for back home and talking points at the office. The guide at the corner store is very helpful.

Visiting the "Santuario Histórico de Machu Picchu" is indeed a magical experience to anyone! We hear so much about its legends, its energy, its mysticism ... If you are thinking about going, keep your focus and, as soon as the world gets back to normal (or at least to the "new normal"), start packing for a unique lifetime experience! The Inca citadel had its construction started in the 15th century and was abandoned by the time of the Spanish conquest in the following century. Surprisingly, the sanctuary has never been touched by any of the earthquakes that have hit Peru on several occasions, and the Spaniards never reached the citadel. It was simply abandoned by its nearly 1,000 inhabitants and, as time passed, nature reclaimed it back. In 1911, American historian Hiram Bingham "discovered" the nearly intact ruins and their magnificiency was unveiled to the world. If you have not yet made up your mind, remember that "Machu Picchu" was appointed by Unesco, in 1983, a "World Heritage Site" and it was included, in 2000, among the "New Seven Wonders of the World"! Rush and let "Machu Picchu" bewitch you! Enjoy!

The only nevative I had was when my brother and I bought authentic peruvian guitars and drums. They forced us to leave the instruments at the gate when we had planned to meditate with the alpacas and play soft music atop the mountain ranges. Regardless the three day hike carrying all of that stuff up with only to not be able to bring it in with us was rough everything else was amazing the guides were amazing we drank with them and had tons of fun. The ruins were beautiful unlike anything ive ever seen in my life. If I had gone a day later I would have done the trip with jim carrey
