Traveling to Machupicchu gives me enormous satisfaction!!!
It was a wonderful experience in Machupicchu! I visited many places without having to worry about transportation, lodging, entrance fees, etc. The agency Terra Quechua Peru took care of everything and adjusted the itinerary to my taste and budget. There were some unforeseen events but as soon as I informed the agency they took care of it, always very attentive and friendly. They made my vacation an unforgettable experience. ✈ Thank you very much Terra Quechua Peru, for so much care and dedication towards me and your great professionalism.

A True Wonder of the World
Located a twenty minute uphill bus ride from the town of Aqua Calientes we arrived at the bus stop 7:30am to join the long queue of tourists already assembled there. Tickets are sold online some 4k of them for each day and an extra 900 at the ticket office in town for in person sales only. The journey to the top includes many hairpin bends and affords wonderful views of the surrounding areas. There are toilet facilities at the unloading site for a small charge, a buffet restaurant and surprisingly a hotel. From here it is a small walk uphill to the amazing Inca site. Our G Adventures guide gave us an informative 3 hour guided tour on what was a beautiful sunny morning.

Brilliant vacation with Uncover Latin America
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chris and the entire team at Uncover Latin America for curating an unforgettable adventure for my family and me to the awe-inspiring wonder of the world, Machu Picchu. While the sheer grandeur of Machu Picchu exceeded our expectations, it was the remarkable journey leading up to it that left an indelible mark on us. The scenic train ride that carried us to our destination was a picturesque delight, setting the tone for the adventure that awaited. The winding road through lush, subtropical landscapes as we ascended towards Machu Picchu was an experience in itself, showcasing the natural beauty that surrounded us. Our guide proved to be a true gem, enriching our visit with insightful commentary and historical context that breathed life into the ancient ruins before us. After our enlightening tour of Machu Picchu, we indulged in a well-deserved lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge, where the tranquility and stunning vistas only enhanced the dining experience. From the captivating tours to the sumptuous meals and the exceptional accommodations leading up to our Machu Picchu expedition, every aspect of our journey was nothing short of outstanding. The level of service we received throughout was of the highest caliber, truly reflecting a world-class standard. For anyone seeking an extraordinary travel experience that seamlessly combines adventure and luxury, I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to Chris and the remarkable team at Uncover Latin America. Their expertise and dedication ensured that our adventure to Machu Picchu became an unforgettable chapter in our family's travel story.

    Winderful place
Great visit to an historical place. It was like a fantasy adventure. I'm glad I went before I got too old. I like the llamas. I'm glad we took the bus instead of trying to hike.

    Absolutely glorious!
This really is a once in a lifetime experience. Glorious and stunning. I didn’t do any hiking just followed the standard trail with a guide - approx 30 mins uphill to start. The photos don’t do it justice and I will always remember my spiritual visit here.

    Machu Picchu and Vainu Picchu
The view of the ruins and mountains in the sunrise is an unforgettable memory. To climb the summit, Vainu Picchu was a feat but worth every sweat drop. We also experienced thunder and rain, which made it more magical

    An ancient site to behold
One item of the bucket list ticked off. Breathtakingly beautiful and as the picture postcards show. Incredible that the Incas built this almost 700 years ago. Make sure you go with a good guide, who can explain clearly all the intricacies of the site, and try to early morning to avoid the crowds. Well worth the visit.

    Magnificent Wonder of the World
This 15th century Inca Citadel, or “The Lost City of the Incas”, built in the classic Inca style, and at 7000 feet above sea level, was truly magnificent. The name can be translated to mean “Old Mountain”, and it is believed that this was a summer estate for the Inca Emperor Pachacutec, and where about 700 people lived and worked while he was present. Some of the buildings have obviously been reconstructed to give tourists and visitors an idea of what they must have looked like at that time. We had a good tour guide. She pointed out various points of interest – The Sun Temple, the Condor landing stone where sacrifices may have been performed, the Temple Room with the Three Windows and the Water Mirrors from where the ancient scientists watched the skies. Amazing…! We got a very early start, and spent about four hours walking and exploring the grounds, and climbing the smaller Huch’Y Picchu Mountain for the glorious views. The landings suggested that farming of corn and potatoes was conducted here. Other foods were imported in. The Llamas and Alpacas seen everywhere were really cute. This UNESCO World Heritage Site deserves its title. It is a process to arrive here, but absolutely worth it to visit at least once in your lifetimes. We feel lucky to have been able to make this tedious journey.

    Searching for Fredy!!!
Fredy found us first, at the exit of the train station in Aguas Calientes. If not for Fredy, we would not have found John for our adventures in the Cusco region. I felt an instant connection just through a quick conversation, and so our adventure began. He met us at 5:30 in the morning with a smile on his face and info started to flow. If not for this man, we would not have had a clue on how this was built and the manpower needed for this impressive structure of the Incan Empire. Can say thank you enough, Fredy!

Incredible and do-able (even for a 71-year old)
Spent the night in the city of Machu Picchu after taking the Machu Picchu train from . Did so in order to go on an early tour of the archaeological site. I was overwhelmed by Machu Picchu…really incredible...well worth it. Some observations and hints: 1. Try and go on an early tour (I went for the 8:00 park entrance). Did so to avoid any rain that usually occurs in the afternoon. The buses are boarded by park entrance time…so those for the 7:00 opening go up before the those for the 8:00 opening….long lines at the bus boardings but there are a lot of buses and the line moves fast. Also some of the internal sights, like the sun dial, are only accessible in the morning. If you go for later times, you will be mixed up with those arriving before you and those coming behind, which makes it crowded. 2. Get a ticket beforehand. Walked by a long line of hikers that were waiting for same-day tickets that are very limited. My guide said that some hikers wait for several days before they give up. 3. If you are afraid of heights and are not hiking to the site, close your eyes in the bus….rather harrowing trip along steep slopes. 4. Use a guide. There were many visitors who seemed to be doing it by themselves. My guide was very informative and knew the nooks and crannies and their significance…. I saw most just walk by. 5. Be aware that the government rations the movement along different paths (circuitos). Another guide got into an argument with my guide because I was going on the upper path (and thus to see “the” view of Machu Picchu) whereas his participants were relegated to a lower path and did not see “the” view. Apparently, they were not too happy. 6. I am a healthy 71-year old. To get to the higher view one has to climb steep stairs. I rested often and was able to do it without any problems. Lots of walking on paths that are not very smooth. For those with limited mobility, stick to the lower paths.

Book tickets in advance otherwise you may land up in getting tickets to Huyana pichhu and not main area. We went via Inca train to Agua Calientes and then by bus to the sanctuary. Many prefer trekking.

At last we got there, our highlight on our 3 week tour of Peru! Very scary bus trip up the mountain if sitting at the window looking straight down the vertical drop, then when the bus meets another two buses coming down the mountain!! Very narrow road and tight bends, and when your bus has to reverse. Argh!! Mammy Daddy!! But when you got to the top and walk out to that picture postcard poster view that you've been seeing for years in books and travel agents, then Wow! Quite emotional for me and shed a tear of joy and wonderment. We were lucky to have had good weather as others have had to have their prized photographs is rain jackets in pouring rain and misty weather where visibility is not clear. So yes counted our blessings. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us stories about the Incas, who just amaze me. Imagine taking all the soil for the terraces up from the base of the mountain for their crops?Seemingly they built this place on the crossing point of two earth fault lines as that would lead to less damage if an earthquake?? Also our guide went on a trip into the Peruvian jungle to find the tribe of pure Incan blood. He spent a month trekking there and stayed with them for two weeks. He told us much more but he's not sure if the Incan tribe is still there?? Wow and more Wow!! What a place!

Absolutely fascinating! Awesome in size and location.
Solid walls ,buildings ,steep terraces.
Peru tourism is very well organised .controlling the vast number of visitors to this site
Visited as the end of a 14 day small group tour, so all the tickets for trains, bus, site entry were already co ordinated by tour operator (UK based with local agent)
Perfect weather. Not too cold/hot/misty or rainy!
I did struggle a bit in the initial part of the ascent but after that it was fine.
