We spent two days exploring the amazing work of the Inca's and the restorations of the Peruvian people. The craftsmanship was unreal and the views were spectacular. The terrain is manageable for the majority but the climb can be strenuous.

We bought our entry tickets to Machu Picchu (as well as Wayna Picchu, also referred to as Huayna Picchu) through the American travel company 'Adventures Within Reach' (ask for Barb). We received both the Peru rail and entry tickets from the AWR rep in Cusco prior to leaving for Machu Picchu and it was one of our best experiences of... More

Machu picchu was basicaly the reason we flew from Europe to South America and it was worth it. We re glad we paid for a guided tour. This place is absolutely breathtaking and its not as physically demanding as we expected. I mean, stairs are uneven and one has to take care, but no several hour hike needed to get there. Hotel... Had to wake up early in the morning but as the spanish saying goes "a quien madruga, dios le ayuda" Simply amazed by this place, no picture can capture its essence, it's definetly a must do if traveling anywhere near peru. Cons include it being expensive and hard to get to. Even so, having to put in effort to get... More

Machu Picchu's one of those things you've grown up hearing about and seeing in pictures, so it'll feel familiar the second you arrive. Given that everyone's arriving there with at least a little bit of baggage it's hard to imagine Machu Picchu being actually better than you'd expect...but it is. It's an incredible thing to see, but it's an incredible... More

We booked our trip with Trafalgar tours for December 2016! We knew it would be the rainy season and brought appropriate gear. We also hoped it would be less crowded because we would be there over Christmas. We really liked being on a tour as it made everything so much easier. We took the vista dome train to Aguas Calientes... More

In a time of no cellphones, no wires and no electricity, the Incas spread their messages thanks to the chaskis, people trained to travel through the extensive roads along the empire, the chaskis would go on foot (although they had relays) some messages would travel 240 Km in one day. We decided to go to Machu picchu to celebrate my... More

Sunshine does make a difference as to the magnitude of the spectacle. Try to get there when you have at least an hour of sunshine. Also note there is both a museum and botanical garden at the bottom of the mountain. I walked up rather then wait two hours in the bus line and broke up the climb by doing... More

Amazing place to visit at least once in your live. Is difficult to get there, but once you arrive and you will not regret. I want give you a speech about this wonder of the world, but is definitely a must see place.
