Amazing experience!

Karen was so helpful and nice. She made our stay at the hotel so wonderful! The hotel was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was ready before our hike at 5am and was delicious.

Worth the wait
Jan 2020 • Solo
The path up can be slippy if it rains but otherwise easy enough.
Waited for around an hour for clouds to clear & they did for about 2mins, so be ready.

Nice

Beautiful place to admire Machupicchu. Excellent view of Machu Picchu. Intipunku or SunGate. It is the point where the Inca Trail ends, and it is the entrance to the Inca citadel in the fifteenth century. You can go with the same ticket as Machu Picchu (without additional fee) and keep in mind that it is a moderate walk that should take 2 hours round trip.

Splendid Views
Aug 2019
This is one of the splendid views you get on your tour of Machu Picchu, the very steep Andes Mountains and the low valleys. Even on a cloudy day, the perspective is impressive.

Start with this walk before moving on because you won't be able to come back
Sep 2019
Because Machu Picchu visit is organised like an Ikea store, meaning you start at level 1 and finish at ground level and it's all one way. Except that at Ikea you can start again or come back mid-way. Here at Machu Picchu, once you start there is no turning back, there are guards making sure you don't go back, and once you're done, you cannot go back to do the hikes likes Intipuncu, which is why it's important to do it first thing.
If you do it early (before 9am), it's a bit hazy so take your polarised filter for decent photos.
The hike is quick, maybe 1h30 total. It's not hard

Sun Gate
Oct 2019
Said to provide some of the best views of Machu Picchu the Sun Gate was probably used as a control post for people entering and leaving the city.

Amazing views from the Sun Gate
Sep 2019 • Family
This was a heck of a hike up about 60 minutes each way with a 7 year old. We were blessed with nice weather and it was a good day to take this route. The rest of the main citadel was packed with tourists so this was a less busy route to enjoy different views of Machu Picchu.

Such a wonderful opportunity to visit this great site. One of the best views in the entire site. It is worth the trek but on a second visit or when you have extra time. Otherwise go to the peak at Circuit 1.

For a larger view of MP in the mountains
Jul 2019
If you have the time make the detour to come up here. Takes about 40 mins uphill if you're fit, for most we'd say an hour. You get a great impression of where MP sits in the mountains. Not many people bother and you will meet walkers coming the other way having just completed the Inca trail.

Worth the climb
Jul 2019
The views are amazing and only about 5% of the visitors do this so you really get a sense of being on your own as you climb up the trail. Make sure to bring walking sticks as the ground is uneven however if you are in your 20s you should be fine.
