This was an absolutely incredible experience! Kusa did a phenomenal job, they took care of everything. I can't recommend them high enough. Our guide, Aldo was amazing. The best guide I have ever had on a foreign experience. His English is fantastic. I highly recommend doing the Inca Trail as part of your Machu Picchu experience. That added so much to the experience. It's not an easy hike, but so worth it. You'll get to see other Inca cites along the way and the views of the Andes are breathtaking. Traveling during COVID-- Go right away. It was awesome to go during COVID because there was nobody there. There was about 20 people on the Inca Trail, when there is normally 125 per day. High season in Machu Picchu has 5,000 people per day and there was around 200 when we went. Masks are required inside Machu Picchu, but it's well worth the lack of people. On the Inca Trail, you can wear a mask or Aldo will be fine if you want to take it off too. We didn't hike with masks. Once in a lifetime opportunity, don't wait any longer, go do it now. You wont regret it.

There are not enough stars on any scale to give Kusa Treks; they simply are amazing. We were one of the first groups to travel to Peru in a Covid world with them. If you are from the United States and traveling to Peru, in my mind this amazing company is the only one to use. Like many, they have been hit hard by the pandemic. Their company’s mission always has not just been sharing travel, but making the world just a little better. During the pandemic, they have been helping remote mountain villages get access to WiFi, and while they hold true to their message of giving back, they are ready to get back to what the do best: sharing Peru with their guests. Traveling in Covid: Kusa helped us find a location to get the covid-tests we needed to both have the quarantine waved and then return home to the US. This was amazingly helpful as it took the stress of finding a place off the table. They even came prepared with face shields for the one time we needed them on transportation (our experience was you will need them just on airplanes and trains in Peru). Other than that we felt little impacts of traveling in a pandemic. I know the reason it was so easy, was the Kusa team in Peru of Erik, Aldo and Mario who were constantly problem solving to adapt to the changing world. Michael in the U.S was very helpful pre-trip to make sure we were all on the same page going into the trip given the Covid world (I would say the key for all of us was to be flexible and adaptable as we all know how quickly things change these days). Logistics: We had Kusa take care of all our logistics from hotel booking, to in-country air travel, to most of our tours, experiences in the Cusco area. Again a top notch experience! I tend to do this all myself for our travels but traveling with our daughter, I decided to offload this portion. Kusa took so much of it, and I didn’t have to worry about anything. It went off without a hitch. It was amazing! Tours, Hikes, and cultural experiences: Top notch. Our amazing guide Aldo and our great driver Mario made the trip truly incredible, we spent the better part of 6 days with them and by the end they are now part of our family. Aldo is an amazing human, with a passion for sharing his country’s history, culture, food, Incan sights, people, climate and majesty. I don’t think he missed one fact, photo, or experience (including, not missing an opportunity to give us a hard time😊) Among many other things, we chose to do the two day trek on the Houyos Qosqo Trail which was an awe inspiring journey. It was 14 mile hike, with one night of camping. We brought our 7 year old daughter, and while she crushed the hike, Aldo’s special care and attention to making sure she was taken care of made this a profoundly memorable experience for her — and not just this portion, the whole trip! Every single experience was organized, planned and executed with precision and care. I cannot say enough good things about this team and this company. They have set a bar that will be hard for any travel company in the future to meet. We are grateful they all took so much care with our journey, as these are memories we will cherish for a lifetime.

This was one of the best trips my wife and I ever took. Erik Bayona provided the best customer service and even provided transportation to and from Cusco. We traveled with Filipe, who was very knowledgeable through our Classic Inca Trail and helped us when we got sick during our trip. The porters were amazing and they provided everything we needed. The camping was a lot of fun and the food was amazing which was prepared by the porters! Our group was small and they provided the best customer service you could ask for. I highly recommend them you will not regret it! When I plan a trip back to Peru, I will be sure to book through Kusa Treks!

This review is only based on my experience with their customer service. Due to unforseen circumstances my group was not able to go on our scheduled trek. My group originally booked the Inca Trail, but due to heavy rains the trail was washed out and closed for the entire first half of March. Kusa Treks helped us arrange an alternative route through Salkantay with almost zero effort from us. But as fate would have it, an avalanche would also destroy that trail in late February. Without missing a beat, Kusa Treks offered us a full refund on our deposits and offered to hold our tickets to Machu Picchu. And once again we were struck with bad luck. COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic. As we scrambled to leave Peru, airbnbs and uber drivers refused to take us simply because we were foreigners. I notified Kusa Treks we would not be able to use the Machu Picchu tickets and without a beat they offered us a refund. We were shocked with how easy it was! In the face of bad weather, a global pandemic, and an over abundance of bad luck, it seemed like the only good luck we had was picking Kusa Treks. Know that when everything that could go wrong, goes wrong, they won't leave you hanging. Would 100% recommend them to anyone!!

My husband and I learned of Kusa Treks via a family member who'd used their services recently. When I reached out to Michael at Kusa, he very promptly sent me an itinerary based on our interests, which included Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. He, Megan, and Erik provided excellent communication. All transfers were on time, and our tour of Machu Picchu with Jimmy was fantastic. I really felt more connected to Machu Picchu after having Jimmy as our guide. There were only a couple times of miscommunication, but this was resolved quickly and without damaging the relationship. We were even refunded a lunch that had been on our original itinerary but we did not have, for one reason or another. Overall, I would definitely recommend Kusa to anyone traveling in Peru. They provide excellent service based on the client's interests, communicate well, and put the client first.
