This is definetly one of the highlights of Chile! If you are determined, quite fit and have done some hiking you can make it. And take the cable car at the beginning.

Don't miss this, climbing Villarrica volcano was an incredible experience. The views are epic and you can see other many snow capped volcanoes. We stood right on the crater and saw all the gasses and heard the rumbles below. The snow and ice is stunning...More

Stamina and walking skills required to walk up the volcano and slide down it! All equipment and even boots were supplied and the guides spoke multiple languages including English. Breathtaking views!

We didn't summit but you can drive to the base and explore lava flows and there are spots to take pictures of the volcano and surrounding area. During the winter there's a ski lift.

Amazing experience. Climb at your own pace and you will reach the summit. Go with a quality operation and smaller group if possible.

We climbed with Patagonia Experience - very professional! On a sunny day, you can see far into the distance. During our visit, the lava lake was reduced to dried up lava with a small hole, where you could see a bit of reddish glow from...More

I doubt it very much (no creo). When I ascended the volcano, it was summer and the guides were always looking for excellent weather (blue sky and no clouds). You have to have good visibility to be safe. Also, you don't want... More

Yes on a day of good weather. The climb is do able and not hard. Of course people should bds relatively fit. The extent of climb can also be reduced from 5 hours to 4 hours if you pay extra for the chair lift.

We hiked with snow shoes in August. There was a chairlift that was working and you could hike a bit further up without a guide. The place that you are staying would probably be able to help you make arrangements. Our host... More
