- donavan94563Orinda, California212 contributionsA nice picturesque stroll in the morning and nightHad the morning in Singapore before a cruise. Clarke Quay is named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Governor of the Straits Settlements. In the early years, many merchants traded along the bank of Singapore River. Thus, Clarke Quay naturally became a wharf for loading and unloading goods. At that time, besides rows of warehouses on both sides of the river, there were also many shophouses and factories. With the development of Singapore, it has gradually transformed from a wharf to an integrated entertainment area for nighttime dining and tourism. Just to the west of the River is Circular Street with additional bars and restaurants. In the morning, the area is quiet and mostly occupied by joggers, bikers and other locals exercising. A nice stroll along the riverfront foot path connects to Waterfront Promenade and Merlion Park and provides excellent views of the city, gardens by the bay and signature lion fountain.Visited December 2022Written December 31, 2022

- AFAK25Jeddah, Saudi Arabia3,693 contributionsClarke QuaySparse traffic on weekday evenings but becomes lively on Friday and Saturday evenings. The refurbished warehouses now house pubs, bars, and restaurants. Occasional stray joggers would make appearance along the pathway near the restaurants.Visited January 2023Traveled soloWritten January 31, 2023
- Steve DDivonne-les-Bains, France805 contributionsNice spot for tourists to strollA very pleasant river side with lots of interesting features and colours. We went to pick up the River Boat Cruise but also had lunch on the waterfront. - Phi SomchaiBangkok, Thailand3,793 contributionsImprovement neededThis is my first visit here ever since the pandemic. Many of the shops has closed and some parts of the area was also under renovation. The area was rather dead and lacked the vibrant energy and liveliness that it used to be.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 22, 2023
- Theresa VPerth, Australia115 contributionsRejuvenating after COVIDObviously not the same as pre COVID, places boarded up, but looks like a few are reopening. Still plenty of people around to give it its atmosphere. Plenty of choice of eateries and things to do, including walking over the many bridges. Great at night with the lights!Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 13, 2023
- VidyaMumbai, India75 contributionsFavourite bit of SingaporeI recommend doing the cruise around sunset to get some photos and to enjoy the serenity of the bumboat. Follow that up with a beer and some finger food at one of the riverside eateries. End your night with a stroll to admire the city lights and get some dessert. Perfect evening in Singapore!Visited January 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 1, 2023

It’s a very vibrant place at night time, but during the day, honestly, it was pretty dead. It’s hard to even get something to eat or drink. There is nothing opens until well after 11. If you’re a visitor, don’t expect any shopping or food to be open, but it’s nice enough to walk around , but if you stay late enough you can get a bum boat and have a little tour out into the area where Marina Bay Sands -is it’s quite pleasantVisited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 12, 2023

The place is better for nonveg food and boozing, but we enjoyed a lot though we are vegetarian. The food cost is same as of Boat Quay i.e., in fine dine category.Visited August 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten July 28, 2023

We made the effort to go to Clarke Quay as it was "a place to see" in Singapore. Went on the train, hard to find the area I was looking for on the river. Got lost. Eventually found it. Nothing going on there. Noone around. Disappointing lunch as they weren't actually serving the food in the pictures advertised. Lots of walking with nothing to see. Tried getting a taxi home to hotel, taxi rank shut. More walking, eventually caught the train back. Don't bother going here during the day. Perhaps it comes alive at night?

It’s a bustling place all the day around. Singapore river where you can book cruise tour for 45 minutes, dine in in one of many restaurants and cafes in the area or do a good walk at the free smoking garden. At night, enjoy the beautiful lights reflected in the river.

I have rated this three stars for a couple of reasons.During the day the place is virtually closed with very few bars open. The reason? Its actually a night club by the river.Don’t get me wrong because at night when it is all lit up it looks beautiful.However….a pint of beer is about £15….yup £15…..bottle of vodka to share £80.And if you want to eat…..well that’s another story all together. The hawker stalls with cheap food have gone. It’s the most expensive place I have ever been to…and I travel lots!
With family take the boat trip from 1pm……boats empty and you get 40 mins around the harbour.
If you are single or with a partner and no kids and with more money than you know what to do with…..get there at eight and get bladdered before you go…😂😂

The once shining light of Singapore is now like the rest the city a major construction site. Avoid the area at all costs. Any restaurants still open are charging a fortune for dinner. Singapore is a place that is now way over priced and not with coming to as a tourist spot. I have been here over 10 times and I am so disappointed that I will use Singapore as a stop over only. Longtime before a return

Nearly everything was closed for construction. The facade is beautiful. The riverwalk is picturesque, but besides the Mall everything was closed.

A place to visit to enjoy a boat trip, a drink and a meal. Sit by the river and take in the view. It’s buzzing.

Yes definitely. No reason why not just be careful that they're not too close to the river of course. Enjoy!
