What a lovely store. I viewed the store website & also had email contact with Mr Ishu Mahtani before I left, as my time in Singapore was going to be short, & I wanted to know more about the items that they had for sale, so that I could hone my thoughts & decisions before I got there, to buy something for my Mum. Mr Mahtani went out of his way to give me detailed information & even sent me a variety of photos, to look more closely at their stock.
I found the shop with great ease, as long as you make sure that you go to the Tanglin Shopping Centre, not the Tanglin Mall Bazaar, as they are near each other. The store is off Orchard Road & near the financial centre, so you are not going to be having to travel a long way from the main streets.
I bought a beautiful silk-lined silk dressing gown & a gorgeous hand painted silk scarf for my Mum, but due to time I had to buy them off the rack. If you had time to have something made for you, then this store has the most gorgeous selection of high grade silk fabrics.
I would encourage people to visit this store, & chose this store to buy from. Beautiful items for sale & genuine, honest staff & owner. The prices were very tolerable too.
I look forward to going back myself.

The first three floors of Tanglin Shopping Centre are fabulous to roam around in--there are antique shops, arts & crafts stores, bookshops, galleries featuring Southeast Asia and its islands so you find tribal items, Chinese Cultural Revolution posters, ikat textiles, silver, wood carvings, porcelain, stone sculptures. Prices are marked but you can definitely bargain and get yourself a slightly better deal. If you love to hunt for bargains this is the place, unlike some of the more expensive antique shops you find in hotels. I drop by on a regular basis to see what's new in stock, bargain on an item I've picked out and am 'working on the price', or just chat with the knowledgeable owners. Select books is also a great specialty bookshop for Asian titles and next door is a wonderful old maps/prints shop.

Visited to do some last minute shopping before leaving Singapore. Was not disappointed. Good collection of antiques / artefacts. I wish I had more time to explore more and get some more rare objects from this amazing treasure trove.

This is the place for tailoring, carpets, antiquities and clothing. Lots of tailors to choose from.
It pays to know what you want - choose the fabric, they have style books or byo.
Sometimes they'll do a special price for jacket, 2 pairs of pants, some shirts. I've had this done for me some years ago and they still fit! 2 to 3 day turnaround of you're tight for time.
I've been told that some of the better tailors are able to copy a dress or suit. I can't confirm this but bring a picture and prepare to haggle.
Be wary of the antiques and carpets. If you like the look that's fine but if you're buying for investment go very well informed.

Hii all , I am a regular visitor to Tanglin Mall Food court ...a short review on the food and service

The best value is the Chicken rice stall ...decent service (not friendly )
The korean is the same as above , again decent service ,fair price for the quality

The food quality of the Banana leaf Delights is okk, okk ... its predecessor was great, excellent quality and variety, absolutely delicious all at a fair price

The food at other stalls are okk .... I don't eat beef so i can't comment on the beef noodles.

The worst service are:

Komalas ,the vegetarian stall
The girls at Komalas are rigid and their gravy potion makes the Orphanage
in Oliver Twist tale look very generous There is also no chance of wining an argument or
extra potion with 3 fat girls at the counter. They look miserable whenever i see them

The drink stall has some staff , a short older woman who forgets your order and growls at you when u remind her , a tall bald headed man who has a problem with quick temper. These makes the rest of the staff moody and its unpleasant to be making a request like "make my milo without milk n sugar .. "
Again there is no point to making your point ...they are right and you are wrong, they charge you for
redoing your order

We were pleasantly surprised to find the best curry for the Roti Prata set in komala's we have always tried South Indian snacks so far and didn't realise this gem of a dish that they have. It's spicy and a perfect accompaniment to the 2 crisp pratas they serve with a smile. We ended up reordering it because we loved it so much!

If you're interested in antiques and art, this is the place to go and even if you're not brave enough to buy anything, it's interesting to browse.

Tanglin Shopping Centre is a 4 story mall where Tangling road intersects Orchard road. We continue to return here every time we come to Singapore because the small, non-chain stores here offer high quality, unique items that make fine gifts. Shops here sell jade carvings and jewelry, carpets, furniture, sculptures, paintings, antiques, high-end bead necklaces, and clothing, including custom tailoring. There is also a spa offering cleaner fish treatments, and there is a pharmacy. The mall is airconditioned, so browsing and shopping is pleasant.
