The beginning of Koon Seng Road just after Joo Chiat Road is considered as the most instagrammable street in Singapore. It attracts many tourists here. Some even came here just for a photograph with the rows of bright candy coloured Peranakan shophouses during a transit stop.
This road is named after Cheong Koon Seng who was one of the first thirteen students at Singapore’s Anglo-Chinese School in Amoy Street.
The two rows of terrace houses on either side of the road have some variation in its designs.
In each of these terrace houses on the right, starting from the roof, it has fretwork painted in alternating colours which reflects Malay influence. Below the fretwork is the elaborate dentils. In the space before the windows are two oculi which serve as ventilation holes. Other decoration includes the festoons and a cartouche.
The fanlights above the two windows and french door provide light into the upper storey and are rectangle in shape. On the ground floor there are two "bat" vents above the windows.
The terrace houses on the left hand side has colourful tiles on its secondary pilaster and the panels below the two windows. it has timber-framed colour glazed panelled fanlights. Its gate posts are also tiled unlike the opposite row.
There are similar Peranakan terrace houses in Blair Road.

Despite the distance from our stay at JEN Orchardgateway, we made it a point to visit this place as it had always been on my bucket list. The main attraction was the vibrant and picturesque row of colorful houses, perfect for capturing stunning photos for your Instagram feed.

Not a lot to see, maybe 10 houses.
Nothing to visit, just good for one picture.
If you love visiting and learning, it's not the place to go.
