Honestly, Isetan is nothing special, but just a normal department store. Only highlight is the supermarket. They sell various food and household items imported from Japan. Sometime, they do seasonal event selling special local food from Japan. I drop by whenever I want to buy Japanese rice or seasonings.
For local items such as fresh vegetables and dried goods, better go to neighborhood supermarket as the price is at high side.

I stopped in to cool off and never expected to see so many different fruits, vegetables and meat. Interesting to see all the food a person from middle USA isn't familar with. There were new smells too. A true cultural enlightenment.

Staying at the Marriott Tang Plaza in Singapore, Isetan is a stone's throw away. Shopping here is pure pleasure, from the solicitous sales staff to the non-western labels. Mainstream designers and stores abound in Singapore but I was looking for something you don't see on every corner in the United States and Europe. Isetan is a Japanese department store with beautiful designs, reasonably priced. With Tangs department store on the other side of the hotel, I was in shopping heaven.

OMG!
The sales staff are so bad now - clearly don't want to serve and somewhat rude. Why do they keep hiding somewhere? The external promoters are useless because not well-trained and they know they're there only temporarily. This promoter system should not be allowed in decent department stores unless they can live up to the store's image. Applies to other stores too!

I am from Australia visiting my husband’s family who lives in Singapore. Never ever I had any bad experience from any supermarkets or department stores during my visits except for your supermarket store.
We went shopping and happened to walk past your Isetan supermarket in the basement. I was not too sure whether it was stated in your rules of entry that photography was banned as we entered your store without checking the rules of entry. However as I was shopping with my husband I pulled out my phone to take photos of your grapes to send to my mother-in-law who was currently at work at the time to ask which type of grapes she wanted me to get, I was interrupted rudely and abruptly by one of your staff. I asked her what the issue was and she abruptly said “no photo”. I asked her “excuse me did you mean I cannot take photos of your products in this store?”. She looked annoyed and raised her voice “NO PHOTO”. I said to her “Alright I am sorry I did not know”. I thought that was the end of it but unfortunately not. As my husband and I walked around the store to see what else we wanted to buy, she followed us very closely behind to the point I felt like I was being stalked. I understand your staff wanted to make sure that I would not take photos while shopping in your store but I felt like I was treated as if I was a criminal. So we decided to not buy anything due to the rude behaviour of your team member and the discomfort she was causing us.
No offence but I can get the same products with better customer service at Don Don Donki.

The supermarket on the basement is a heaven for japanese food and drinks, we love to hang out here for some fresh sashimi and sake.
just buy from the supermarket, and eat it there, there is a counter bar for you to sit and drink.

We had to nip in here quickly to buy some wine and beer for a friends dinner party. The young lady at the cash register beside the alcohol could not have been ruder. No please, no thanks, just hand out for card. Disgusting.

Singapore is known internationally to becoming an expensive City to visit. This department store has good quality merchandise, at value for money prices, with a comprehensive selection of items. Staff went to extra mile to please and assist...highly recommended.
