If you like to get away from Puerto Princesa city for a day, you can experience inexpensive local transport to go for a swim, pic-nic and relax in nature at the Olangoan (Olanguan) falls, community-based project located in barangay Binduyan. Take a multicab to the New Market terminal (15min from Old Market) ) and from there a shuttle van (150P/pers) or bus (90P/pers) that takes the North National Highway towards Taytay. The bus will drop you right at the Binduyan waterfalls welcome booth (just before arriving in Binduyan town). You will be assigned a guide (400P/group) and after paying a small entrance fee of 50P/pers, you will hike (~40min) across and along the river. The path was recently maintained with new bridges and steps when going up the hill or across boulders. The hike is very easy and mostly flat. Several pools are inviting you with the best ones at and above the waterfalls! Facilities include solid tables to have lunch and well maintained bathrooms. No trash around, what a great pleasure! If you like noisy crowds of locals, visit on WE and public holidays .. otherwise come during the week! After the easy walk back, wait a few minutes back on the highway to hop on the next bus/shuttle back to PP.

Getting to these falls is easy, the drop off point is well signed and on Google Maps. From here you get a guide, pay your fee and head off on the walk inland. It will take between 30 minutes to 50 minutes depending on how often you stop for photographs and to rest. The walk is mostly easy, with some tough parts with steep steps, a few bridges and some climbing over rocks. It is well worth the effort though because the falls are lovely and a great swimming spot. There are cabanas you can use for shade which are really well made, and there are change rooms as well. This is an eco-tourism site and the Tourism Association are doing a great job keeping the area well maintained. Make the time, enjoy being in nature and relish in the magic of waterfalls.

First things first, this attraction is entirely a nature experience and if you do not like the adventure that nature can give and prefer man made attractions, please stay at your fancy resort.
The entrance is right next the the highway and we got to pay 50 pesos per person as entrance fee. We also needed a trail guide for 200 pesos since they told us it was mandatory.
To get to Binduyan Falls from the entrance you will have to hike 1700 meters on a jungle path. A part of the path is quite rough but if you got a normal stamina it will not be a problem. At 5 places you will cross the river but the water is only knee deep and no big deal. Just make sure you use good shoes and not flip flops like the locals, you can take the shoes of when you cross the river.
Keep a lookout for monkeys in the threes. You will know they are close if you see fresh monkey poop on the trail.
Once you reach the first fall you can take a swim in the fall. Also make sure to just stand still in the water and let the small fish pick your dead skin cells of you. Normally you will pay a good amount of this fish pedicure but here it is totally free.
The water was around 19 degrees according to my dive computer and the first pool is around 7 meters deep in its deepest part.
You can now choose to continue up to the next set of falls but the trail gets a lot rougher. However it is definitely worth it.
Our trail guide left us at the first waterfall witch was fine. There was no trouble finding the way back and it was nice to have the amount of time you wanted. It was also great walking back on your own since you can take it in your own time.
Avoid going with a tour. Instead get a trike/van/cab to take you there and enjoy the amazing sceneries that only the nature can give.

I'm a local, living 2km (about a mile) from these falls for over 10 years now. It is a nice (but strenuous) 45-minute hike to the lower falls, which are good for picnicking, swimming, diving (don't drink the water though!), with the option to go up to a second fall further up the mountain.
The problem I have with it is that they started charging a few years ago: 50 Pesos per person, plus 400 for a guide for every 10 people.
And that's fine, *if* the money is being used for upkeep, development, and sanitation. However:
- Very little of the money does seem to be being spent on the above
- At the "ticketing" "office" there are no posted prices
- There is no official government mandate/authority on display
- You don't receive an official receipt.
In other words, the money is probably mostly just going into someone's pocket.
I don't mind paying guides for their work (the local daily salary -- let alone for a few hours -- is below 400 Pesos though), and I don't mind paying an entrance fee *if* it will be put to good use.
If this was an official project of the government, there would be posted prices, government notices, and official receipts. None of these are currently present; it appears to be a sham.
I will take down this review when I see local officials either legitimize this operation or disband it.

We booked our own transport with Van for Hire. Rogie organized a van to pick us up from our hotel. It cost P3,000 pesos for 5 passengers. It took almost 1 1/2hrs to get to Binduyan. My husband and I and 3 Children (11yrs - 16yrs old). It cost P400 pesos for a guide and P50 pesos per person for entry.
The trekking was 40 min (less than 2km). You’ll walk through bridges and climb rocks and steps to get to the main falls. It was all worth it once you get there!
You can’t get any food or drinks so best to pack your own food. Make sure you can swim as it gets quite deep to swim. Be Safe!

We startet our Trip from Jungle beach Resort, about 50min to walk to reach the falls. From highway it's 40min relaxed walk. The most of the trak is in jungle, so not to much sun. After 15min there is already a small pond to refresh. The trip is not so ease to walk, better use training shoes(locals do it in flipflop :-). The falls are great looking, the lake is refreshing and after the trip you think its icey cold(its not, 24C on my dive computer). We really enjoied the little fishes eating our dead skin or any scars. Somwhere else you have to pay a lot for this service.

Hike 1700m to the falls through a bamboo grove and tropical forest.
There are several stream crossings along the hike so expect to get your feet wet before you even get to the falls. Sturdy hiking boots are not necessary but walk carefully - this is not a cement-paved path.
If you're lucky you may see monitor lizards, monkeys and wild cats. There are also lots of butterflies.
Cliff jump into the natural pool and get a massage under the falls.
Best of all, by doing the hike you'll be supporting the Binduyan community who manage the area.
Entry is P50/person
A guide is required, P400 for 5 people
