The day was packed with lots of information about the local culture. It was also very hands on as we practiced palm leaf weaving, shaving coconuts, climbing a coconut tree, playing traditional games, dancing, decorating a bamboo shot glass and even made a local dish which we enjoyed for lunch. I came away with the decorated shot glass, a sample of fresh coconut oil and even purchased a cute turtle anklet!
Would highly recommend to anyone who would like an insight into traditional Filipino culture.
Thanks for a great day!

I did the Phillipines Experience as part of the One Life tour.
It was really incredible! We got to participate in some traditional coconut tree climbing, bamboo painting, dancing and cooking.
The guides (husband and wife) were two of the coolest people I’ve met here in the Phillipines and brought such an incredible respect and appreciation of Phillipino life with them.
Warning though, there are some aspects of the village that are not for everyone.
There are some animals that are not treated very nicely in the village, and this was quite upsetting to see.

Thanks for the review! Really happy you enjoyed the traditional activities we showcase.
We also find it upsetting to see the way some animals are not particularly well looked after.
But we have to understand there are cultural / economic differences when it comes to the role and treatment of animals in the village.
Together with one life, however, we've been able to offer spaying and neutering in the area, together with anti rabies jabs and food. Shen has even found happy homes for many pups from the village, including ours!
Thanks again for the kind review about The Philippine Experience :)

The Day was fully packed with everything that could entail in the life of the Philippines. With a range of information and ways of life included right from the start was amazing. Learning how to climb a coconut tree to using one in our meal that we then cooked and ate afterwards was fantastic. Understanding the culture and learning some basic tagalong words or creating palm leaf weaves was so fun. The hands on experience was amazing and went far beyond expectations of what I would have assumed to be a cultural experience!

This was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to not only gain knowledge about the culture and history of the Philippines but to get involved with cooking, dancing and playing traditional street games. The guides were fantastic. Sheena shared her own stories growing up and was full of energy and positivity.

Mark and Shen made our group feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We kicked the day off learning how to climbing a coconut palm, followed by a cooking class and many other activities including traditional dances and games. Their knowledge of the Phillipines, it’s culture and it’s history was outstanding. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to scratch the surface and learn more about the country.

A fabulous experience and an authentic way to experience true Philippine culture. All activities were fun and inclusive, and I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting El Nido or near. I visited as a part of the OneLife Tour, and am grateful this was included.

Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to El Nido to have a day doing something different to beaches and to learn about Filipino culture. Loved the fauna walk and the cooking class - the food was included in the tour and incredible! All the team do such a good job of making it interesting and fun

Thanks Matas! That is definitely an experience worth thinking about including. If we can work out a supply and how to keep them warm it could be fun / freaky :)
