On our second visit to Puerto Galera (last was 5 years ago), we opted to go the not-so-travelled route. We visited from Aug.23-25 to maximize the long weekend/holiday but also prepared ourselves that Puerto Galera may be filled with tourists with the same intent. The plan was to visit the place and stay in a different locale to avoid the similar sights since we are not used to traveling to the same place repeatedly...and we were not disappointed.

Most tourists go the the White Beach proper because of its fun, young and youthful vibe but for me White Beach is Boracay's younger sister and I need none of that right now. A twenty-something who works 6 days a week needs more of solitude that would be worthy of her 1 day leave from work.

Will definitely not recommend among the party animals and the swingers. The place welcomes tourists with kids...a lot of them play on the shores at dusk. Hence, couples fond of PDA and stripper-happy folks are not encouraged.

Almost back to basics. This is the sentence that aptly describes my stay in Talipayan's Mountain Beach Resort. Just a stone throw away from the posh Infinity resort, the resort felt like a second home in Mindoro. I usually didn't like waking up very early but the sea has a way of calling you in the morning. No Baler-like surfing waves. No Pagudpud-like horizon. And definitely no Boracay-like nightlife. But definitely Talipayan has its own beauty. A gracefulness like no other. Perfect for a much needed detox from any emotional and social toxicity one may have.

If you are looking for white sand, palm trees and a quiet place, you should go to Talipanan Beach. You can truly find tranquility there, only 10 minutes away from White Beach. It's a perfect place to rest for a week end or more, and you also have a lot of activites to do around the spot like snorkeling, hiking to the waterfall, zipline.... A very nice spot I would go back for sure.

Of the beaches in Puerto, this is the best. Actually, the best is a between Talipanan and White beach. If you go to Talipanan and walk back towards White Beach, you come to a stretch of empty picture-book beach with fine white sand and palm trees. It is one of the prettiest spots you will find.

Talipanan itself is very nice and has a few good places, the best being the excellent Amami Resort for both accommodation and dining.

We have been to El Canonero Diving and Beach Resort for 3D/2N...it is a perfect place to stay if you just want to relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere of the bay...the accomodation is priced right, the staff are very helpful and courteous...the owners Giorgio and Angie are all hands on to make our stay a memorable one...and the pizza is good...a must try....and an unlimited supply of mineral water is available for the asking.
Giorgio's son is all ready to accomodate anyone for a diving lesson. And he will personally accompany you to the open sea dive.
Tricycle ride to White Beach Resort costs php100 and the tricycle driver who drove us was also the one to pick us up to bring us back to El Canonero for Php100. Just don't forget to take his cellphone number.
I highly recommend the place to my friends.
Going back to Batangas Port is not a problem. With prior arrangements, a boat from Galerean Shipping Lines will pick you up at Talipanan Beach, just a few steps away from El Canonero.

Talipanan Beach is great. Not a white sand beach, but clean and not crowded.
Lovely coral just off the beach. Try it at low tide, very easy to get to.
Many good restaurants and nice little hotels.
Well worth a trip.

When you think of a tropical beach, this is the kind of place that springs to mind. White sandy beach, warm blue water, palm trees and a shady comfortable place to site and watch the waves.
The beach is small and was practically empty the day we visited. There is an excellent cafe / bar right on the beach where you can sit in the shade on the comfortable chairs and sip the beverage of your choosing.
We were on a tour of some of Puerto Galera's attractions and this was one of the stops. We spent longer here than at all the other locations combined. It is just such a beautiful and relaxing place to be.
The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended.

This is the quieter side of Puerto Galera. If you wish to chill away from the crowd and music, this is the place to go which is reachable thru a trycycle. Prices in this side are a bit higher when it comes to food. I guess it is because of lesser choices of restaurants since you need to go inside the resorts to eat. But at the back of these resorts are small canteens and eateries wherein you can have food cooked by the locals for a lesser price.

Talipanan beach is still relatively undeveloped. There are several small and quiet resorts (which tend toward the "rustic") and the world-class Infinity Resort. Otherwise, there are no souvenir shops, karaoke/videoke joints, beer houses and other such tourist traps. This beach is great for people seeking peace and quiet. Even the few vendors ask you once and then leave, without pestering you. This is the opposite of noisy, crowded and rather decadent White Beach nearby. I'd recommend staying at Talipanan Beach if you want to relax and de-pressurize. However, just be aware that although the beach is sand, it will be stones and rocks once you get into the water.

We enjoyed vacation and don't need to get sick during the travel. The Beach was not powder white sand. But family able to relax and have fun together was purpose. I have been to a lot of nice beaches in my home province Cebu. The timing was bad due to cloudy and raining did not allow me to snorkel. Rough seas from Muelle to Batangas is not that bad. i'm used to this transport in visayas. The local government should improve their port. No proper waiting area during rains is not great for passengers.
