Tukuran Falls was spectacular due to the recent rainfall. The carabao-cart ride to the falls was good fun and the guide was very informative. You can swim in the falls when it is safe to do so. I enjoyed my climb up the falls and taking photos. I hired a local guide and van from PG Showaround which was more comfortable than a tricycle as it tales about 1 hour to get there from Sabang. The cost for the falls (excluding transport) is Php500 for the carabao-cart ride and Php50 per person at the falls. My best day out in Puerto Galera as you can also visit Tamaraw Waterfalls on the way there.

Went here when in Puerto Galera. Just love getting in the Philippine country. A ride on a carabio (not sure how u spell that) gets us to the falls. Lovely swimming hole, walking over the rocks. Had their BBQ lunch with a beer. Time to pay for everything. The 3 escort tourist girls, did help me walk over the rocks, gave them P100 each. Read where some people get up set about having to give them some pesos but gee only a couple of dollars & the girls said they don't have a salary just rely on what they get from the tourist. Then stopped at the tourist shop. The girls bought a dress, me just a fridge magnet. The trike driver was excellent comes with experience I guess. Ok do put this place on your "must go to" well worth a day trip.

It is really worth a visit. Rivers, lakes and hiking are great activities if you get tired of the ocean. Riding the carabao is quaint and charming. However, i strongly advise travelers to respect nature by cleaning after yourself, respect local customs and culture and please respect the locals. Sexual acts are not permitted here!!! It's not that kind of place, please. All in all, it was a refreshingly pleasant experience.

Got married in the Philippines recently. Only had a couple weeks to accomplish that, so everything was hurry hurry and I couldn't really "plan" anything in advance. I'd heard about puerto galera though, and thought it might be fun to visit for a couple of days. Arrived in PG not really prepared as I usually would be. Local motel owner suggested a guided tour of a few attractions, including a couple of waterfalls. It sounded like a good idea...a whole day of entertainment for about 60 bucks, including transportation.
The highlight of the day was supposed to be something called "Hidden Paradise" (Tukuran Falls, now that I've been there)
When we arrived, we had to pay for a ride on a ox cart (what I'd call it) although the animal was called carabow or something like that by the locals. Very bumpy ride.
At the beginning of the ride, I should have known we were in trouble. As soon as the cart started moving, about a half-dozen young filipina ladies with "vendor" IDs started walking behind us. One of them struck up a conversation with us along the way.
The falls were pretty, but we were constantly hassled by the vendors. They tried to pull about every scam imaginable on us. Telling us they only came out to the falls for US, telling us they couldn't eat if we didn't buy from "my" table (like all the tables are not from the same company...give me a break) I got a very good workout that day just from telling girls over and over and over again that I was definitely NOT interested.
This place might be OK for the local filipinos. But if you look Western at all, this is a place to AVOID. It is essentially just a tourist trap. It could be enjoyable if the vendors were required to stay at least 300 meters away from the actual falls, maybe...
But the presence of the very pushy, dishonest vendors really ruins this particular attraction.

This whole experience took three hours and two minutes for our group from the turnoff on the main road just on the Calapan side of San Teodoro town to Tukuran falls and back.

Using a slow driver of a multicab (open van), the trip to Salambawan from the turnoff took 27 minutes where after paying the bargain price of P350 for the carabao cart ride (and P150 for the driver and driver's mate's meals) we boarded the said cart.

The slow carabao-hauled trip took about 25 minutes each way and involved six fordings of the river. The cart had good padding on its longitudinal bench seats (thank goodness). The carabao did not utter a sign and at times (encouraged with a light touch of a whip) broke into a canter. The track included some pretty sections of Kentia-like palms.

The falls had very clean water although from what I saw the drop was not spectacular. Along the way we observed the more vertical and picturesque La Pantay Falls but allegedly the water here is not as clean. I suspect that this may have more to do with how at Tukuran Falls there are rudimentary shops selling souvenirs and a very small range of snacks although a larger range of drinks. People were friendly.

This was a great experience, especially when we passed a couple of carts travelling in the other direction full of smiling Western and local tourists.

We went for a day trip in April 2012 the weather was very hot. When you have to leave the mini bus there is a 30 minute trek or 15 minute ride in cart pulled by Caribao. I trekked to the falls and rode back (both being an experience). Once there it is "paradise", the swim is a must as is a jump from the rocks into the deep pool, I was like a ten year old again !! Our Philippino guides were very helpful and friendly. A fantastic trip I shall never forget.

These days we are under influence of a lot of political correctness, protection of gender, races, religion, you name it. But it`s funny how tourists never get any protection from governments, when they travel.
If you are white and travel, you are more likely to get ripped off, and this attraction is no exception.
It`s sad to say, but the Filipinos working as guides at Tukuran Falls just don`t have common sense. The consequences of taking advantage of tourists, and overpricing them, will only ruin their reputation, and could damage their only income.
Ironically I am white, but live here, and even do charity, so it`s even more damaging, when a local resident warn tourists to avoid certain places and activities.
They don`t even clean the place to maintain the beautiful surroundings. I had to tell them there was plastic bottles, paper and glass splinters left on the rocks.
So let this be a warning to those who plan to go to Tukuran Falls. There are no price list so therefore you need to start asking for the total costs before you head out for the falls. If you don`t they will just add accordingly to your color.
Good luck!

On a rented scooter(500 pesos/day), we went on an adventure to discover the 2 most talked about Falls in PG. From White Beach to Tamaraw Falls, we rode further away to Tukuran Falls. We rode to a small town in San Teodoro and turned into Calapan Road on the right side. Thanks to the scooter, we are able to ride on the concrete road n dirt road all the way to the parking area. A small parking fee is required to park the scooter.

From there you can take the buffalo cart (400 pesos roundtrip) or walk with a guide(100 pesos) to the falls. We chose to walk without a guide and enjoyed the natural atmosphere of the area. You will not be lost if you get your bearings right. We enjoyed crossing 5-6 river streams and watched buffalos taking a dip in the river. There were always locals around to point to the general direction of the falls.

At the falls, it was simply an awesome sight to behold. On the right, there is a row of shelters where you can have a barbecue or just to settle down. Raw or cooked food can be bought from the shop there. On the left is a souvenir shop mended by a friendly Ate and more shelters as well. And the centre is a natural deep pool with overflowing water that flows to the river we had crossed. The water is crystal clear n cooling. The whole area is clean and picturesque. There are more tiers above the deep pool where you can find smaller pools and pockets of strong falls that you can stand under for an alluring water massages. :)

If you are game for it, you can even pitch a tent overnight at the site. Ask that friendly souvenir shop Ate(Sorry...her name is still missing in my head) for more information.

We had a blast at Tukuran Falls and for sure will come back if we visit PG again.

The whole Puerto Galera sucks... Either they want to rip you off or just charging for every single thing... This are not falls, they more like a river with water buffalo poo floating all around it... Not impressed. Would never recommend... Beware... If you do decide to come be ready to pay for pretty much everything....

I thought the carabao cart ride to this place was just the highlight of the tour but I was wrong.
The falls had several layers that one can go to and explore. The higher you go, the more secluded and private it gets.
