About Sea Rider Dive Center
Sea Rider Diver Center Puerto Galera, "The Back Packer's Choice" has been diving and operating at Sabang Beach, Puerto Galera, Philippines for 10 years. Our dive and course rates are guaranteed to be the most affordable (cheapest!) in the area. PADI, SSI and BSAC dive courses are offered. We dive at least one hour (air permitted) and have the best macro spotter. All guides are very familiar with the dive sites and love to spot macro critters for underwater photographers. We discovered the Macro Haven dive site and is exclusive to Sea Rider divers. We don't mix fun divers and U/W photographers. Dive master/guide to diver ratio is always kept at 1:4 to ensure safe diving.

I did two dives with Sea Rider that is located in Sabang area. This is a really small dive shop. Because I wanted to see "big staff" they modified their afternoo trip to the Giant Clams dive site. Overall, their equipment is good and their divemasters are experienced enough. They provide a good briefing before diving. And really great price for a dive (1100 PhP per dive for an experienced Open Water diver).

Since I wanna make sure that my friend who will try dsd will have a wonderful experience, we communicated with the owner weeks before diving since they were recommended by a diving friend. Unfortunately when we were there, staff told us that they were not aware and they were fully booked. Nonetheless they were able to accomodate us. I wouldnt go back here since we've experienced dive resorts far more accomodating and organized

I did the PADI open water course at Sea Rider. Couldn't recommend it more. Mark was an excellent instructor explaining everything really well and being super calm once in the water which transfered over onto us. The gear and boats were in good working order and the best value for money. I also did several dives here after the open water. The dive sites around Sabang are spectacular and well worth a visit.I saw everything from sea turtles to nudibranch.

We had a group of 18 people heading to PG from China, but we were all going to different dive shops. From the feedback I’ve gotten, we had the best experience by far. This is a small dive shop, with more of a personal/friendly and informal atmosphere. This is because Mark the owner does not want to over-commercialize, and there’s definitely both pros and cons to this. For me it was mostly pros. Firstly, there is a lot more consideration is given to what the customer wants, such as going to certain dive sites. In 3 days of diving, we got to go to Canyons twice and Hole In the Wall once; meanwhile our friends at other dive shops went to Sabang Beach each afternoon to feed fish (I won’t say which shop they were at, but it was one of the larger ones). There was always 2 DMs with us even when we only had 2 fun divers, and when we went to Canyons we got 2 DMs + a DM-in-training for safety precaution. They also did not charge me extra for borrowing booties/gloves. The downside was that communication was not the best. Because it is a small shop, they don’t have a person there dedicated to taking care of bookings. Some times your emails may go unanswered. WhatsApp or WeChat probably will work better. There is also no strict time schedule for the dives, so if you’re traveling alone you may have to go with the bigger group’s timing. If you are 2-4 divers, you can negotiate the time of the dives with the DM. For me, I like the flexibility, but some may prefer a more scheduled approach. Overall, I think the good greatly outweighs the bad. You are safe, and you get to go to interesting dive sites — I think those are the most important. If your English is not very fluent, it may be a bit more frustrating, but it is still manageable because their English is quite good.

Dive 4 full days with them. 16 dives in total including a trip to Verde Island. One of the lowest priced diving but did not compromised on service quality and bottom dive time. All dives are 50 mins (whenever possible except in strong current and depth) as compared with some other shops that surface only after 40 mins. Mark (owner) is fast in reply. Offer help in other services such as accommodation, transportation and bike rental. Staff is very friendly and helpful - setting up your gear, doing all loading and unloading, you can also take off your gear before getting into the boat after dive. All you need to do is to enjoy the dive, nothing else. Dive masters (Ar Ar and Gao) are experts in the area - helping weaker divers to overcome strong current in Canyons and avoiding/handling down currents in every Verde Island dives. They make special effort to orangise a trip to Verde Island at lower cost by having a group of 6 - good balance between group size and cost. All my dives are in small group - first day was one to one, second day was two to one, third and fourth day was three to one. Notice they don't do group that is larger than 4 to one DM. Excellent safety. They do up to five dives per day. So its like a LOB if you have an accommodation nearby (upstairs is Habitat - homestay). Waste no time if you are a serious diver - just eat, rest, dive. But not at LOB pricing. Will definitely come again.
