It's about a 10 min walk from the Prambanan temple complex. We went on a hot day and it is a fairly small temple which is thankfully not overrun with tourists. Much of it has undergone restoration, so it is smaller and relatively peaceful.

I went there after seeing Prambanan temple (I took a scooter there) - it's much smaller, parts of it are not really restored (which makes it interesting for me), there are much fewer tourists so the visit is more relaxed. I definitely recommend it!

When you visit Prambanan Temple, come early at the opening, because Sewu Temple is in the same area, same ticket and Plaosan Temple is 10 min drive from Prambanan but less people

It was amazing to walk around the temple. Take your time and walk through all the temples/buildings. If possible research or ask tour guide for the history and story behind the temple. It will make you appreciate the beauty and history about these ancient buildings.

We were inundated with rain and the guide did not have an umbrella, either for himself or me. Also, the statues were quite beautiful and he did not have a flashlight??? The only reason I saw them was another guide had brought a flashlight. The...More

I've seen my share of Hindu and Buddhist temples, and I can't remember seeing "twin temples" before -- whether it be elsewhere in SE Asia or South Asia. There were quite a few locals visiting the temple on the Sunday morning that we went. Not...More
