i had opt for the 4x4 package to merapi, it was fun and the driver share with us the story about the merapi. the scenery is nice. air is fresh and cold.

visit the area and you can see the huge alien stone from the volcano. rough road and will take you one hour and more for the jeep ride. you can buy souvenir like t-shirt etc there is a toilet and can pay 2000 indonesian rupiah

Very interesting experience although very hot and it’s a very bumpy ride in an uncovered Jeep. Great views of volcano and memorial museum is sad but interesting.

its not cold. but its depends what time you trekking up.. if you strt hiking 3am u should bring the jacket.. start 6am, the weather is warm already. for me 10 celcius is cold already.

Merapi's inner core is currently swollen, placing it on high alert status, with climbing banned till it either settles down or releases some pressure

If you have a group or are willing to pay for the jeep yourself, the tour agent will take you whatever time you want. If it is a good idea tho - depends what you want to do, if you want to visit the museum and bunkers or... More
