This is a great little stop off. See the artists at work, get an explanation of the timbers used and the meaning of some carvings.

The designs of wood work available here are nice and unique. However it is very expensive.
I liked the Rama and Sita mask, barong mask which was very beautiful.
Bali gates, dewi sri and barong are also remarkable souvenirs to buy from here.
We spent some good time in looking at the carving work as well as admiring the finished products. There are large number of shops in the area and we spent good amount of our time at Rai Wood Carver (Membuat Garuda). We chose few stuffs...More
Visiting this place allows you to see the countryside views of ubud, and thats about it! The place show cases a few instances of carvers actually making the woodwork, but its mainly just a place to sell these artwork to the tourists.
The craftsmanship of pieces were outstanding. Some pieces taking months to complete and all work crafted by hand from start to finish.Took home a few small pieces. Would have loved to buy bigger pieces, but costs to ship are expensive. (import costs ridiculous)
Some amazing woodwork at display. Intricate carvings on wood. The skill of the craftsman is clearly visible in each item. Only issue is very few smaller items on display. Mostly big but they ship it if req

If you go to the Mercure Hotel in Legian, they have a Buffalo tour desk in the foyer, they would give you plenty of detail on Mas Carving centre and more. I found them great. If you book anything through them ask for the guide, Yoni, she was fantastic. Their prices are equal to others but their reliability was above others. Yoni took me to the carving centre and more. Always on time always happy and got m to places I may not have found.
Good luck, wish I could be more helpful
