The Beijing subway system is incredibly easy to use and a great way to get around at low cost. It's one of the best and most modern subway systems in the world. You buy tickets from a machine, although they do have booths with staff....More

The subway is super efficient with stations indicated by a moving red dot inside the carriage. The signs are in both Chinese and ABC. Ticket machines have an English option and staff asssist. Don't expect fluent English from staff.

Having used subway systems around the world, I have always been impressed with Beijing Subway. Most trips are only 3 CNY and during my 2 weeks in Beijing I rarely experienced slowdowns or stoppages like on the London Tube or Tokyo subways. I used most...More

The Beijing subway system covers most of the city. It was our preferred way of traveling around Beijing. For a 20 RMB deposit you can purchase a subway card at most stations. Most trips cost 2 or 3 RMB, so for several days, 50 RMB...More

You can travel by bus or by car to the Great Wall. Since you are limited by time, if you can afford it, arrange private transport. It may cost less than you think due to the Yuan exchange rate. Enjoy.
