On most days you'll have to stand in line for over an hour to get inside. It took me an hour to get to the security check. You can bring any bags or cameras inside (smartphones are ok). I left mine at my hotel which...More

I really enjoyed this. Very little evidence of the Cultural Revolution in modern China now. But here you feel it. Workers statues outside, security soldiers who look super serious. I went by myself in poring rain. Wife, son, son’s girlfriend thought I was nuts. It...More

Seeing Mao is only part of the experience, seeing the reaction of the Chinese people is a whole other experience. It is a cultural experience that should not be missed if you are visiting Beijing. Be sure, if you go, to first leave your bags...More

The memorial was worth a visit since it doesn't cost anything and you are done in less then 10 minutes. On the same time, the speed they rush you through the memorial makes it less spectacular in comparison to waiting an hour to see Lenin....More

The reverence that the Chinese show to this man is amazing. There is a constant line filing past his open coffin. Many purchase Chrysanthamums that they leave as they file by. As with many attractions this would be better combined with, for instance Tiananmen Square.
