We had a long layover in Beijing and I went in with an idea of what I wanted to see. Get picked up at the hotel, see the square, forbidden palace, the great wall and get taken straight to the airport. I approached several tour agencies with this itinerary for an idea of the cost and what they had to offer. Jessie was very responsive and seemed to have great value for what was offered so we booked in advance with her. Day of, our tour guide Lisa picked us up promptly was able to give a great day. She was able to accommodate all of our requests (we wanted some local street food she was able to find), and we found her knowledgeable and personable. We had a fabulous 24 hours in Beijing and Jessie and Lisa made that possible. We were in great hands!

I booked a day tour to the Great Wall through Jessie. My tour guide was Lisa and she was excellent. I was promptly picked up and my day at the Great Wall in Mutianyu went very smoothly thanks to Lisa and the driver. Lisa explained all of the sights very carefully to me (with her impeccable English) and went at my pace throughout the day. I highly recommend this tour!!

I was fortunate to choose Jessie through this web site as my tour guide for two days over a weekend. She was very thoughtful in selecting the most interesting sites to visit in a logical and easy to follow order. Any last minute detours I requested (a Starbucks visit and shopping) were accommodated with a minimum of fuss; she is very patient. Jessie is an exceptionally honest and caring person who was concerned for my comfort and enjoyment throughout both days, she treated me like a VIP guest. As a native English speaker, I found Jessie extremely easy to understand, her interesting, tailored and often humorous commentary was relaxing yet informative. Not only was I given a good understanding of the various sites we visited, Jessie gave me a good insight into life in China. I would strongly recommend Jessie as your tour guide when visiting Beijing, she will enrich your visit.

I booked Jessie online after reading all the reviews and checking out her website. We had a great time in Beijing and her English was decent, although there were some times when we obviously weren't understanding each other. Her rates were good, she knew the history of each place really well and she let us explore on our own time.

My only issue was that the tour guide we had was obviously not the Jessie on the website. I had noticed when I first saw our guide but thought that my memory was faulty. It wasn't until we compared the pictures on her website back home that we realized we were obviously given a different guide. Our guide looked nothing like the pictures and during our discussions it was noted that our Jessie was not a former English teacher like the person on her website and had previously worked at another tour company. I don't mind if Jessie wasn't able to be our guide but I'd prefer some notice of the fact instead of having a stranger pick us up pretending to be Jessie. I inquired about this to Jessie after my trip but the only response I received was something about how she hopes I can hire her again if I ever return to Beijing. While the trip was really fun and we liked the tour guide we got, I wouldn't recommend "Tours By Jessie" to any of my friends or family since I don't know which tour guide they'd get.

We tried all day to book Jessie. She kept stringing us along and refused to give a straight answer to our continual requests that she confirm she would be our guide. In the end, she left us without a guide claiming another booking rather than tell us the truth that she was never available and would have passed us on to someone else. Jessie is not to be trusted. So be careful. Once a liar - always a liar, in my books.

I am sorry to hear that this client did not have a good experience trying to book a tour with me. It is always my goal to provide the best service I can, within my abilities, whether the client books a tour with me or not. Having said that, I would like to clarify a few very important points: Because I offer personalized and custom tours there is no guarantee that I will be available to give a tour until the tour is actually booked. At no point was a tour ever scheduled/booked by this guest. Rather, several lengthy and detailed emails were exchanged, over the course of nearly 3 hours, whereby I answered all of his questions and inquiries. I really wanted to give this guest (and the two other people in his party) a tour. That is why I agreed to do so in the very first email to him. Tours are what I do everyday and enjoy them very much. However, rather than agreeing to schedule a tour with me, he chose to ask question after question about different locations and sites where I do not give tours. Unfortunately, by the time all of his questions were asked and answered, a different party booked a tour with me. It is very hurtful and saddening that he would choose to call me a liar. My tour business is how I support myself and my family. I work, and continue to work, very hard to provide the best tours I can. Labeling me a liar and giving me a poor review because I was not able to give him a tour seems very short-sighted and wrong. In the future, if he were to visit Beijing again and wished to book a tour, I would be happy to show him (and his guests) my beautiful city and I hope someday to visit his beautiful city of New York. Sincerely, Jessie

Jessie was reliable, friendly and helpful and great to be with. Not only did she show me around the interesting cool neighbourhoods of Beijing, Hutongs etc, but also got me around the Forbidden City. She was also great at helping me sort out hotels and other stuff. She also assisted by phone when I was in the taxi trying to sort out where I was going and the amount, I just called her.

She even sorted me out with another guide when she couldn't do a particular day. So definite recommendation - and I am hard to please. And yes, she is very patient!

If you don't know the language, China can be a very daunting place for foreigners, even for experienced travellers.

Beijing is huge and tough to get around, but much to enjoy. I was in China on business but had a few days in Beijing. Some of the group tours can be crowded and you spend as much time being dragged around the shops and sold to as seeing what you want to see.

An individual tour guide is cost effective, avoids you getting ripped off and it fits around you.

My trip to Beijing was terrific, the city is by far the best place to visit in terms of a one stop shop sightseeing and cultural experience. In addition to all the beautiful and historical landmarks Beijing has to offer, the ease in which I was able to see everything was all due to my wonderful tour guide Jessie. Jessie’s admiration and love for her city makes her tour an experience to remember as you become immersed in the history and culture. Jessie’s English is next to perfect, and was able to answer all my questions about Beijing.

The communication with Jessie before my trip was excellent, she responded to all my emails within 24 hours; sometimes immediately! The responses were not short, she answered my questions in detail and also offered other suggestions that might be useful. Jessie picked me up from the airport, as my flight was delayed, she was still there waiting. Jessie accompanied me to my hotel and gave me a brief tour of my surrounding area.

On day one we covered The Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square- In the centre of Beijing, The Forbidden City, Jingshan park, and Summer palace. Throughout the tour and the day Jessie gave detailed information about each landmark and insight to traditional Chinese culture.

On day two we covered Great Wall (Mutianyu part), Ming tombs (dingling tomb) and Olympic main site (bird's nest). Jessie booked a car for us as it was more convenient to get to the Great Wall in morning and also to the other two places later in the day.

The rest of my time in Beijing I was sightseeing on my own, Jessie emailed me each day to check in on how I was doing, and make further suggestions on what I could do. Also, as my trip in Beijing concluded Jessie offered to help me book my overnight train to Shanghai. I thought these gestures were very nice of her, as I was no longer paying her to be my guide.

First and foremost I think that if you are a solo traveler or with a small group you should book a personal tour guide instead of a tour company. Hence, if you decide to go with a personal tour guide, then Jessie will meet all you needs. Jessie is reliable, punctual, flexible, and very sociable person to be around. You will not be disappointed, and I have already linked her with a friend who will be traveling to Beijing this summer. Again, my trip would have been simply average if I tried to see everything on my own, but with Jessie it was truly amazing and experience to remember for a lifetime.

Jesse was a very efficient, pleasant and helpful tour guide but we were disappointed as to her historical knowledge of Beijing.

We worked with Jessie during our June trip to Beijing and would recommend her to you. We were initially disappointed as we had planned to tour with her for three days and, on the first day, she was ill. She was responsible and arranged for a substitute but we chose to tour on our own. When we did tour with her for two days, we found that she was pleasant, knowledgeable, and incredibly flexible. Her English is excellent and she does a great job of not only explaining the sites but also of explaining Chinese culture, customs and language. She mostly had us tour using buses and the subway which often saved time and money. When we asked her to take us to markets, she was great in helping us negotiate good deals. It was clear that we were in charge and she was there to make things easy for us. In no way were we led around on a prepackaged itinerary. To be clear, I don't believe that you need a guide for Beijing. There is a lot of English to help get around with and a good tour book has lots of information on the sites. However, a guide such as Jessie can really enhance the experience. You will not go wrong having her as your guide.

I booked a two day tour as well as round trip airport transportation and Beijing Private Tours By Jessie delivered five star service at every step along the way.

All email inquiries were answered promptly (some just a few minutes after they were sent), and all details of the tour and airport transportation were clearly explained. Prices, where we would go, what we would see, what was included, etc.

Originally our group of four was considering using a taxi to get from the airport to our hotel in Beijing but after doing a little research on TripAdvisor, I realized that most Beijing cabs would not be able to fit four passengers with six pieces of luggage. When I contacted Jessie to book our two day tour, she also said she could arrange airport transportation that would accommodate all of us for 350CNY (roughly $52USD) or about the same cost as two taxi’s considering traffic and a lot less stress. Our hotel had quoted me a price of over 1000CNY for similar transportation.

When we arrived at the Beijing airport (albeit almost two hours late), our driver was waiting exactly where Jessie said he would be with a sign with our names on it. He then escorted us to a new looking, clean, comfortable and large, 10 passenger van that easily accommodated the four of us and our luggage.

The following morning we met Lisa, our tour guide for the next two days, in the lobby of our hotel at exactly 9 AM just as Jessie said we would. Our first day was a tour of the city including Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City, the old Beijing Hutongs, The Temple of Heaven and more. We also stopped at a local restaurant for lunch and had a great Chinese meal. Our second day took us to the Great Wall and the Summer Palace.

Lisa was the perfect guide explaining the sights and history, taking pictures, accommodating changes to our itinerary and making sure we got back to our hotel on time for dinner reservations. Our drivers (we had a different one each day), provided clean, comfortable and new looking vans.

On the day of our return to the airport, we realized that the Beijing Marathon was taking place just a few blocks from our hotel and could cause traffic problems. I emailed Jessie just a couple of hours prior to our original pickup time and asked if we could move the time up just in case. Sure enough Jessie responded almost immediately and our driver was waiting for us at the new time.

I can’t say enough good things about Jessie, Lisa and the company. They will make your trip to Beijing that much more enjoyable from start to finish.
