Huge Museum. Lots to see, plan on spending at least two hours in the Museum Amazing to see ancient history and architecture. would suggest definitely take a guide to explain everything

We visited the museum in January 2021. Its genuinely huge, and I can see it getting Very Very crowded when COVID isn't going on. I feel like we saw most of it. The highlight is the King Tut exhibit. There is a no-camera/no-pone section that contains Tut's mask, I would run to this first (2nd floor, middle-back of the museum). Only 10 people are permitted in at a time, so get there early. Our plan was to see the royal mummies next, but it was closed, as they seem to be moving the royal mummies to a new museum. I won't go into everything in the museum, but I did enjoy the animal room, mummified fish the size of a bean bag chair.... crocodiles, baboons, it was pretty amazing. We spent 4ish hours there overall, at the end of our 2 week Egypt trip. Like other parts of Egypt, there are touts outside who want to help you with everything, and get money from you too. I find this annoying, and I find their persistence to be even more annoying, but this is not the fault of the museum.…
