Everybody is advertising this but at the end of November 2022 you should know that it no longer runs. You can go part way to experience the train but no circular route.

Atmosphere are changing since February 2021 military coup. All Railway stations are quite silent. People are working on their interests but not possible to survive of difficulties of low income and livelihood status are terrible.

Pro -Tatmadaw protesters spark riot in Yangon. The protests near the Central Railway Station. All things are paid demostrators by the taking records of cable and mainstream media. Although they are Buddism, they will not follow Buddha discipline they just follows military coup' orders and some incentive.

A pointless endevour. Uncomfortable and long trip. Do not recommend, nothing much to see. Better to walk or cycle around

We did the entire loop in a couple of hours. Interesting way to see the real life at the people of Yangon. Not exactly super comfortable (bumpy and hot), but certainly authentic. Something to do once...

Might have been charming many years ago but not anymore.
it is in the process of being modernize and it is just a train ride now.

Went for a trishaw ride on a three-wheeled bicycle as a part of our city tour. They took us to a train station where we caught the Loop or CircularTrain that makes a big loop around the city. Interesting to watch the people riding the train, the vendors selling items and the sites you pass by on thetrain. Got off at the main train station and caught our van.

A great way to see Yangon and it's population in their daily lives.
Us tourist are just part of the decors, they don't take interest in us( which is great) but sale to the locals, making the experience even more authentic .
I would highly recommend those 3 hours in the train

This is a MUST SEE when in Yangon. It affords a good view of Yangon, & the amount and diversity of items sold on-board is staggering ! The cost for a complete circle trip is less than 20 cents

Hello, could anyone suggest me some interesting stops where I can get off?thanks a lot
Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience for the circular train in Yangon, can I check with you whether you managed to do a full round (around 3 hours) of the Circular train? Because I heard some of the people are telling me that they are doing some renovation for the Circular train and it's no longer a full round of train ride.

When we were there last month, going around was not possible due to some construction work going on . And probably it will continue for a while.
There is another train going from Yangon central to Bogo.
Though we could not make it , It seems fun too.

I am heading Yangon in July. Wandering if i were to get down @ Da Nyin Gone Railway Station (where the market is located) After exploring, do i take the train from the same station (L) to go back to Yangon as i do not want to do a full loop. I am confused. Kindly advise. Thanks and you have a great day :)
Best regards,
Joyce

Hi Joyce
The circular train is still running and it travels the circuit both ways. Suggest you download a copy of the circuit, which identifies all the stops plus download the train timetable. The Internet provides both documents.
Identify where your hotel is situated in regards to the train stops and then alight when you are near your home station.
Bonjour
le train de Yangoon fait il toujours une boucle? J'ai lu récemment que la boucle était interrompue et qu'il fallait faire un aller et retour
Merci

Can tourists buy a day ticket at every train station? Or only at the central station?

When I was in Yangon, it rains almost every day from 3pm onwards till late night. So it is better to get it done before 2pm and back to town for lunch. 😉

Do you have to get on the train at Yangon Central? Is is possible to buy tickets and board the train at other station in downtown such as Shan Road and Pyay Road? Asking as these stops are right next to our hotel, rather than making our way to the Central Station.

Hi travelers:
I was told that I have to do it for 3 hours to complete the whole loop (yangon train circle loop)
1) any chance to get off before and return the other way instead of finishing up the whole loop? thanks
2) which side is better to start off? the west side or the east side ride train?
3) any good stop to hop off and explore? thanks

About 3 hours is about right for the entire loop.
You can get off at any of the stops on the way. In that case, once you finish exploring the area you went off, just take a taxi back to where ever you want to go.
Either side is good and interesting.
There are no good or bad stop to hop off and explore, it all depends on you, and how you feel when you reach a place. You make your own adventure......
Hope this helps,
Have fun !!!
