Not very keen to visit such museum unless I have prior knowledge. Nevertheless, the guide included this as part of the itinerary, and since we know who is Aung San Suu Kyi, no harm for us to just take a look. The place is not very big, but has a driveway and a garden area at the surrounding. The building is just 2 storey but quite well curated. Do note the simplicity life style of the people at that point of time. More or less can relate since we were also part of the British colonies and can appreciate the building structure and environment. Can see the family photos of Gen Aung San and his family, including Aung San Suu Kyi.

If you came all the way to Burma, surely you must have some interest in its history. Well, then you need to visit this museum about the "father" of modern day Burma. Most people today know about his daughter but not this man, who was a truly great guy. What this man accomplished in his short 32 years of life was unfathomable! A scholar, soldier, activist, leader, husband, father, statesman....but above all, a man who loved his country and eventually ended up giving his life for it. Coming from humble beginnings, he went from a young student leader to a world class statesman at around age 30, while leading a few revolutionary wars against the Japanese and the British along the way. Had he not been assassinated, Burma today would be absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, very different....and for the better, in my opinion!

On the lighter, fun side, it was a real treat to see the newly conserved vehicle that he used - a late 1930’s model Wolseley! My only suggestion for this museum - please display this vehicle in a better way so that visitors could see it properly. Now it is behind glass that is behind accordion gates/doors and very difficult to see . I understand the need for security, but this could still be better exhibited for viewing.

All in all, excellent museum!

The museum is the house where Aung San lived the last few years of his life and is definitely worth a visit. There is a great deal of information to read about his life along with some of his original belongings and excellent photographs of him and his young family on display. The entrance fee is 5000 Kyats.

Bogyoke Aung Sang Museum was located down the street from our excellent hotel, Chatrium Royal Lake Yangon. Entrance is 5000. You will receive a souvenir paper ticket and a brochure. This is the house that General Aung Sang lived in from May, 1945 to July, 1947. Inside you will find mementos of his family life including the kitchen dining table, living room and original AM radio, bedrooms and other associated artifacts. It is a very calm and relaxing place with very few visitors the day we were there. 30 minutes maximum. See also my reviews of other sites in Yangon, Thailand, Singapore, cities in Australia, Portugal and Spain, as well as in South America. General Aung San, the architect of Myanmar’s independence and father of the now famous Aung San Suu Kyi, lived here during the period of Myanmar’s independence with his family.
It is a stunning early art-deco style house set an a hill with much of the original furniture remaining. Note the beautiful internal staircase.
Architecturally the house is inspiring and the rooms are simply furnished with genuine pieces from the era.
While only a short visit, it is well worth the time as it really connects you with the human face of the man behind the independence movement.
The house also witnessed the famous family double tragedy as well, which makes the historical and spiritual connection even more real.
The 5000 kyat ($3.50) entry fee helps maintain the house and it is just a short taxi ride from downtown. The house is set in a beautiful residential area of Yangon.
I spent a very enjoyable hour wandering around.

This small house was the residence of Burmese national hero Aung San. The small exhibition shows the life and family of the nationalist leader. Although small (can be done in less than an hour), Bogyoke Aung San Museum is a good place to explore the contemporary history of Myanmar.

This museum is on.my list when I came and visited Yangon. The history and political perspective of General Aung Sun and his daugther are the main factor that encourage me to visit this museum. There is such interesting story and history telling around the museum which not much people.known. A sad story about the family made me understand about the general.and his family as well as the establishment of this country
