Lovely in the weekends to drive out early morning before 10 am to snorkel as the sea is not rough...there is a wreck where you can snorkel...please be mindful that about 10 steps into the sea you get a drop unlike other beach where you...More

About 30 minutes from downtown Honiara. A nice beach site for wreck diving and snorkelling. An old Japanese cargoship Tonegawamaru, sunk during the WW2, is just about 30m away from the beach, and you just can walk right into the sea. Beach entry fee to...More

Traveled to Honiara, Solomon Islands in September 2017 and were struggling to find any information about tours and places to go. I read about Bonegi Beach, often spelt Mbonege, and the ship wrecks there but were unable to find recent reviews. In the end decided...More

The land is owned by families and there is a fee for going on to the beach. Be wary and don't overpay. We got our room maids brother to show us around. We felt safe while with him and he took us to various places.

I recently visited the Mbonege beach on a private tour. I decided not to snorkel, but looked at the wreck on the beach while my guide was explaining what had happened to this Japanese ship. There are a few seats and tables on the beach,...More

30min in a taxi from central Honiara, we were the only people on Mbonege beach which is a beautiful long sandy beach. The wreck is amazing, lying so close to the shore, with really interesting mixture of colourful corals and lots of beautiful fish. Quite...More

Wow, what a place. It was filled with the locals with picnic food. Then swimming around the wreck is amazing. It's just a few meters away from the shore and the fish you can see are fantastic. It's $40 per car to access the beach...More

Booked this on p&o cruise. 30min drive from honiara. Fee to access beach...there had been a crocodile sighting so snorkelling was a bit scary. Nothing to see till you get to the wreck about 15metres out...some lovely gish and an octopus...but if you have been...More

There are not a lot of tourists in Guadalcanal. So the few that there are spread out and you hardly ever see anyone. The same can be said for this beach. Although it is hyped, there is often no one there. There are also no...More
