This place is a model of a traditional desert Bedouin village setup. It is an opportunity to learn a bit about the history, traditions & culture of the place. There many places to buy local souvenirs.

It is quite small and there is not really much to do. Only go there if you have some spare time, otherwise you are not missing out. It is supposed to stimulate the ancient lifestyles of the Emiratis starting from Bedouin tents all the way to seaside huts and farming forms. I found most of the things presented to be quite old.
There are a couple of shops selling knick knacks and souvenirs but you can much better decent items in WTC Souk.
The museum is quite small and basic but informative enough.
There are no cafes or restaurants. If it had one then I am sure it would have been a lot better.

Solid 3 stars,
It will not be everyone cup of tea, but it is free and it is sort of interesting..

Mostly some markets, and historical buildings, if your tour is checking it out great, if you are near the Marine Mall check it out, otherwise perhaps give it a miss.

All right for a quick look around, but don't spend too much time, it is quite a tourist trap really, and there are more interesting sights.

small exhibition area trying to preserve this history and arts, crafts and traditions of the emirates before destroyed by the massive oil wealth. Most exhibits were closed and was also a couple of small museums with semi-random poorly labelled displays on the history. There was a few tourist souvenir stalls that were the main activity for the bus loads of selfie-taking tourists turning up. wasnt worth the time and effort to get here. If you are staging thru Abu Dhabi airport and need to spend a day in town then one of theme park on Yas Island already near the theme park would be a better use of your time

Heavily crowded as a lot of tour buses visit this place.
Entry is free
Very difficult to find a taxi on return so it is better to use an app
Depicts Bedouin life style of yester years in form of their living spaces, animals etc
A lot of shops selling local handicrafts
A small museum and shops showing local artisans at work
No food is available
There is a small beach with no access
Total time required is approximately 30 minutes

We visited this place without a tour and that was totally OK. People were really friendly and helpful.
Note however:
- Bring your own water, there is none for sale.
- There are tourist souvenir stands, which were rather inexpensive, compared to other places we saw, BUT only cash payment.
- There is no taxi stand in front of this place. And there were people offering us "private rides" which looked a bit like scam. Make sure to have a taxi number to call or walk to the nearby mall (about 15 mins).

I visited heritage village in Abu Dhabi two weeks ago. The conditions for the animals are very bad. The horse was very skinny and looked malnourished and the camel seemed very unhappy and agitated. The bull/ ox lived in a terribly small quarter.

Otherwise Heritage Village is quite run down and can do with an upgrade. It is so important for people to understand the history of the UAE and the heritage village would have been a great resource to do so but clearly there is no investment or interest in doing this.

It is nice to see a replica of an old Emirates village, their tents and costumes. It was an old fort and fisherman village, before Abu Dhabi became full of $$$$$.

Do not drink the water. Here as also around Dubaï there drinking fountain that says the water is safe and cold. My wife drink the water and had 3 days in misery with gastrointestinal infection.

Abu Dhabi government should be more careful ! !

The Heritage Village was built in 1997 and is really showing it's age. Worth a visit only if you have time to kill...and if the weather outside is pleasant. Went in mid-September and it was a mandatory stop on the tour. Given a choice, would have skipped it. With the heat and humidity, the 15 minute photostop was 15 minutes too long. Even the people working there looked like they wanted to leave and would if they could.

Getting there and out was longer than the visit itself. Would have preferred a longer stop somewhere else. I would imagine tour operators are under some pressure to show off this place? It was free entry when we went...so one wonders what funds the upkeep and how can any improvements be made if there is no revenue.

If it's part of a tour you booked...15 minutes is truly enough. But if travelling independently, it's not worth the taxi fare. Skip it.
