Entrance to the mosque for women
Good afternoon dear travelers. I would like to share my visit to this mosque. In fact, the mosque as an architectural heritage is very large. Everything is good and beautiful. I would like to contact the administrator of this tourist site. The fact is that when visiting women at the entrance they require headscarves. If a tourist arrives and does not have a handkerchief at hand, the only way out is to buy a handkerchief. Is it really not possible to give handkerchiefs to women at the entrance as a gift in the form of a compliment? When you are forced to buy scarves, it is very unpleasant... Think about it...

    Architecture worth visiting
Such a gorgeous building! We really enjoyed our trip to the grand mosque- the architecture is stunning and I even went through ‘worshippers’ and got to pray there. The security is extremely strict they don’t let you take many pictures or wander around so that’s restrictive but nonetheless worth a visit to see!

    A must do
Definitely a must do .... It's fabulous and we're all delighted we went . My advice is get there early, as soon as it opens as when we were leaving it was really beginning to fill up with tours so getting crowded, whereas we had the place almost to ourselves and could stop and take it all in. Plus depending on what you wear you may be asked to buy scarf or clothes to enter , we had too but actually it wasn't a bother & we have a souvenir.

    Stunning
The Grand Mosque was absolutely stunning. We also did a cultural tour, with Saif as our guide, and he was very engaging and informative and happy to answer the group’s questions. We went at around 4pm so saw the Grand Mosque in light and dark which we enjoyed.

    Stunning place to visit
Very interesting place to visit. The architecture of the Mosque was stunning. This will be one of the rare opportunities to go inside a Mosque if you are non Muslim seeing as they are not open to non Muslims. Dress code is very important, NO shorts, tank tops, T shirts with inappropriate images for men. Women MUST cover there heads at all times, wear long trousers covering the ankles and long sleeved tops, dresses that are covering the ankles. If they do not then they will need to get a Abaya. Females who have not reached puberty do not need to wear an Abaya. To purchase they start at 45AED for a plain one and go up to anything if they are hand embraided. On the web site it says you can get an Abaya to loan but did not see where they were and when we were checking in the man who was helping people fill out the forms said you had to buy one. There are a lot of people visiting the Mosque so be prepared to queue. Make sure you do not have any flags, religious items etc as you will not be aloud to take them in. You will be going through security to enter the Mosque. You enter via the glass domes near the Mosque into a small shopping mall and head underground to the Mosque. Voices must be kept down no running or shouting. Just be respectful. Allow a good 60 m- 90 min to walk around and take photos. They have set areas to take photos inside to try and keep people moving through and plenty of people to keep you moving as well. Having said all that it is worth the visit. I would recommend a tour guide to get more insite to the Mosque.

    Beautiful and Welcoming
Loved the visit to the Grand Mosque. The Mosque itself is breathtakingly gorgeous. The interior is awe inspiring. We took the free tour and our guide was so welcoming and informative. I'd highly recommend it. Before entering and after leaving you walk down a long corridor and exit through a mall with a good food court and some cool stores. I really enjoyed the entire experience.

    Must see Sheikh Zayed Mosque
This is a must see when in Abu Dhabi. The serenity, the architecture, the sheer magnificence of it. It is free to visit, and the staff are very helpful. Whilst free to visit, you do need to register to visit, though this can be done on the day there. Do remember to dress appropriately as it is a place of worship. For ladies full arm / leg / head coverings, and for gents legs must be covered (no shorts) and a polo shirt was fine on the day. The website does provide a clear view of what is OK and what is not. You then have a walk from the "reception" area through to the mosque, however they have travellators and for those that need it, golf buggy's ferrying people up and down the long underground corridor. This is air conditioned, so won't be walking in the open in direct sunlight. One there, they run free tours in English on the hour (i.e. 10am, 11am etc). We were shown around by Mozza - who was FANTASTIC. Very clear English, she was fluent, personable and knowledgeable. The tour only took 35-40mins, so I do recommend if you want to know more about the moqsue. After that you are free to walk around yourself if you want, but you cover it all in the tour. Total time needed there is 1-1.5hr max. Overall, a great place to visit, would recommend to go around mid morning and avoid lunchtime or just after because of the heat and the crowds.

Must do experience. Make sure you are properly covered.
What an architectural wonder. This is a must-do for Abu Dhabi. Our very knowledgeable tour guide Saif made it even better. Please make sure if you are a woman, you need to be covered from head to foot. Your face can show but head, arms and rest of body must be covered. We were not with a group and hence were not aware that you could rent clothes. The information point and the lady security personnel were blunt and unhelpful. We were made to buy a scarf at an exorbitant price which we probably will not use again in our life.

    Great visit and culture tour
Wonderful place a must see. Sun afternoon it took 1 hr to get thru visitor's center to entrance. I highly recommend taking the free cultural tour just about every hour on the hour meeting point just inside Maine entrance arch to the right. You get to go into the make prayer room, public tour only looks in the tour provided many insights and close up look out guide on 19 Mar Khalid did a wonderful job. Tour is in English only.

A fantastic place to visit. Go early because it gets crowded and make sure you book a slot first. It's free to enter. Takes a while to queue up and get through the entrance protocol, but sticjk with it.

Tips:

Book your slot for feee in advance and print your barcodes.

Be Aware:
It’s a place of worship, not Disneyland. Following the rules is required and to me being respectful seemed a big ask for some people.
There’s a lot of queueing, but it’s worth it.

Opinion.
I saw a comment they the people had a dream to build something amazing, and they certainly have.

As a place of worship it’s beautiful place, but as a simple building and spectacle it’s truly staggering.

The details and how the place ‘feels’ is simple incredible and if you visit the region it’s a ‘must see’.

Getting to this mosque was not easy. It was very busy and we parked miles from the mosque in an underground carpark. We then walked and walked and walked. At some point, before entry, we were told we needed to make a booking, which we had not. So, as we stood there, I went online and booked us in. But the proof of booking, I had difficulty showing the attendant as I am sometimes not very tech savy. I had a couple of attempts and found this process stressful and actually what the necessity of this was. Finally I got it sorted and we were admitted.
The mosque is huge, very grand and very beautiful. We had just been to Oman and to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and even though I suspect Muscats Mosque is smaller, I loved Omans mosque more than Abu Dhabis. More symmetrical, very grand, good taste, less busy and not over the top.
It was very very busy here, with so many people posing for photographs at all vantage spots. There was not much free movement and space as we were on a one way, self tour.
There also were not many official people around to advise you.
So as much as it was huge, grand and beautiful, my experience was nice but not fantastic. When we came out of the Mosque, we then had to ask how to find our parking which was miles away and really confusing.
I think if I had taken my husband with me who had chosen not to brave the crowds, I may have had a better experience.
I think this mosque is something that visitors should see, even for its grandness and opulence, but plan to take some time in doing it, that there will be crowds and be prepared to walk a long way.

We booked tickets for 1620 as we wanted to join the 1700 free tour. This is so worth doing. You get to see bits the general public don’t and get a better view for pictures and information about the mosque. Highly recommend it.

An amazing place! The views of the Mosque are absolutely breath-taking from any angle! We were lucky enough to join a complimentary excursion around the Mosque and were given a lovely tour by friendly and knowledgeable Aisha Mubarak. Thank you so much, Aisha, for showing us the spots we would never have managed to see without you! A highly recommended trip!

Wow! What an impressive place this is! So worth a visit if you are in the UAE. We took a private taxi from Dubai rather than booking an organised tour. The driver stayed and waited for us and even got out and showed us where to go. In true Dubai style - the best customer service in the world ! You have to book the tickets online and choose a time slot even though it’s free. It really is spectacular, very serene and impressive. Go as early as you can as it gets busier as the day goes on.

After reading very mixed reviews I was unsure what to expect of my visit. My concern was the dress code, after reading how several people had been turned away and had to buy the correct attire from the on site shops. However, my visit was very enjoyable. The whole site is stunning, although I chose not to take one of the tours, there is informative signage throughout and ample opportunity for taking photos. My advice would be to double check the dress code and go early before it gets too hot.
