The street is full of shops, caffees, and restaurants. It is not cheap. You can find souvenirs. Food is good at relatively moderate price.

Hamra was once the most elegant street in the Middle East, and a cultural hub. It reflects the cosmopolitan identity of Beirut. Packed with Coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, bookshops and boutiques, there is something for everyone.

I haven't stayed there, but it is very close to where I stayed and there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants near by. You are very near to the university.
