- Chad W B16 contributionsA MUST when visiting BahrainI visited the museum while on a day tour of Bahrain. It is a must. It was actually one of the highlights of my tour. It is a beautiful museum that provides a very well organized history of the country and its people. Helpful, interesting, beautiful, and enjoyable.Visited July 2023Traveled soloWritten July 11, 2023
- Flower53_10Tbilisi, Georgia1,590 contributionsBeautiful and interesting museumThis is a must place to visit in Bahrain if you want immerse yourself into Bahraini culture, understand the history and development of this nation and just see the beautiful and genuine pieces of art. There is also a beautiful part where you can see the scenes of Bahraini life and see the mannequins in traditional clothes which is interesting , particularly for kids. Also they have a very beautiful collection of old Quran books . The staff is very friendly and like most of attractions in Bahrain it is free of charge.Visited February 2023Written August 11, 2023
- Melaina LPoursac, France32 contributionsStunning building with well curated exhibitsThe show starts outside with an interesting building and use of the sea. Interspersed with contemporary art the Bahraini 'new' is much in evidence on the approach to the museum. The entrance was sparse with a few items highlighted and I was at first a little confused although the floor map of Bahrain is magnificent. However once I discovered my way I had a wonderful time and learned so much about this fascinating island kingdom and its peoples traditions. The museum is clean and very comfortable as an addition. The cafe is very comfortable and reasonably priced. The gift shop was basic but not overtly money-grabby. I liked it. There are also boat trips to historical points of interest available to purchase from the entrance to the museum. I would also recommend these, they are operated by Captains Corner.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 8, 2023
- LolaGo1Washington DC, District of Columbia6,452 contributionsHighly recommended to visit this attraction!Entrance fee here is about 3 US $, payable by credit card only. There is a toilet area on the left side that is discretely covered by a wall. On the left side are photos and explanations of Pope Francis’s visit of Manama. There is a vintage car on display near this area. Other items on display are various korans, Dilmum mounds and clay pots used to bury the dead, exhibits of lifestyles of Bahrain people from birth to various stages of life. Mannequins in colorful attires were used for these displays. Note that there are 2 floors of exhibits. An elevator is available to go to the upper floor. Outside area: There are sculptures on display here. Excellent photo area here!Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 9, 2023

The displays do not disappoint either, from the map on the floor as you walk into the foyer to the the many exhibitions - all are most informative & well presented. It gives you a good insight to the local culture of Bahrain. The coffee shop is good too with lovely seating outside in the shade.Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 29, 2023

The visit to the Bahrain National Museum is essential to understand and learn about the rich history of Bahrain.
Entrance fee is 2.2BHD per adult.
Whilst the museum has great offerings on history and culture through history , it is underwhelming at times.
There is no guide map except a wall mounted display at entrance. An absence of interaction compared to other museums. They could benefit with audio commentary and headsets for visitors.
Low number of visitors but I guess this is something that they can build upon.
You learn a lot about the diverse culture and Dilmun which is very educational.
Worth the visit

Start your visit to Bahrain here & don’t miss the Graves, Dilum and Culture & Traditions halls. You won’t get this much information on a tour, but what you learn here will give you the context and insight to appreciate what you see on any tour you might take.

1) If I buy a boat ticket to get to Bu Maher Fort, do I get a free return trip back to the Museum?
2) Can I start my visit at the Fort, purchase admission + boat ticket there, take boat across, and then visit the Museum?

Eid timings daily from 8am to 8pm as usual. Boat trips starts from the Museum to the Abu Mahir Fort southern Muharraq, where there is also a hall showing the Pearl Road project. Short return trips from morning till 4pm for one Dinar only per person. On Eid they have stoped the trips and maybe due to the hot weather now in summer. You may call them on +0097317298718.
