Obviously of great significance. This is a well managed and informational visit. You only see a small part of the overall area, given it's very sensitive location. Israel is but a few metres away.

My Ethiopian Orthodox Christian wife & daughter visited the site late in the afternoon & were fascinated to see the place where Saint John the Baptist baptised Jesus.

There will be a shuttle from the ticket booth to the riverside and a guide will accompany the guests. The guide assigned to our group was very knowledgeable of the history of the place. If you are a Christian, this is truly a spiritual experience.
