This is a place to slow down. Take your time to enjoy well seasoned vegetarian food with a blend of new and old flavors. It's the best place in town for foul medammas (fava beans). The whole wheat pita bread is very good and compliments...More

I visit al Balad on a weekly basis. Love the food, love the shops, love the architecture, love the history. Would recommend eating somewhere then visiting the Amphitheater at night, then finishing the night off with some Knafeh at Habiba!

Al Balad was quite an experience - plenty of shops (jewelry and fashion), restaurants and souks (tourist trinkets). The shops and souks aren't much different than others in the Middle East, but they did sell trinkets unique to Jordan (mosaic artwork, Petra gifts, postcards, etc.)....More

This is the real middle east. Away from modernity, new offices and hotels, apart from cars this is what old Amman would have been like. Take your time and enjoy. Perfectly safe to walk. Ladies no bare shoulders or above the knee clothes.

If you're in Amman you have to visit the old downtown (al Balad), full of famous restaurants, sweets shops, souvenir shops, coffee shops ...etc.

There are some interesting shops in Al Balad if you are a collector of coins, antiques, etc. Night life is vibrant and there are some awesome restaurants that dot the Rainbow Street, complete with music and great food.
