So many stalls for produce and pastries, so many little down to earth restaurants to choose from, you can spend hours here eating and looking at everything. One of the best markets we came across in Israel.

There are so many things to see in this market. There are all types of fruits, fresh and dried as well as other merchandise. Even if you are not buying anything, its great just to walk through the market.

I am a sucker for open air markets (farmer's markets, products, etc). I love the atmosphere and color of these places. Old Jerusalem has a lot of narrow streets, the shops tend to be narrow and long as well as produce just outside the door. I think we in the US would consider the more Kiosk size than what we would consider a shop back at home. I think my mental image is just those produce that is native to the middle east, but there was everything from brand shoes, toys etc. There were places where I saw US College team logos t-shirts (in Hebrew). I also enjoyed a sense a humor on some for the coffee (better than Star Bucks, Chuck Norris approved.) I loved the color the of the market and I cannot imagine what this place would be like during the height of tour season. (We went before COVID-19 shut down travel).

Mahane Yehuda was a really nice market to visit during our stay in Jerusalem to buy local products. There is wide choice of nuts, dried fruits, bread, spices etc. A must to visit while in Jerusalem!
