The City of David National Park entrance is located outside the Southern Walls of Old Jerusalem. This National Park was built to buffer and protect the Old City of Jerusalem from construction or building near its ancient walls. Referenced throughout the Bible's Old Testament, this is a noteworthy site for numerous reasons, but does involve walking and a more strenuous adventure should you explore the dry Secret Tunnel, Canaanite Tunnel or Hezekiah's Tunnel, which runs with water. King Hezekiah wisely diverted the waters from the Gihon Spring to the Shiloah Pool within the protective walls of Old Jerusalem, under fear of an impending Assyrian attack. Other archeological excavations can be viewed along your journey, including David's House or Palace built upon much earlier foundations and the House of Ahiel. This was a memorable experience rich with ancient artifacts and history.

This is where it all began, with King David building what would eventually expand to become Jerusalem!

The young lady that acted as our Tour Guide, was very energetic, good speaker and very knowledgeable about the area and the history. The only downside was that the underground portion of the tour was not accessible on that day, which is the main reason most folks take the tour.

This is a great area to visit. Starting with the 3D film to covering all of the trails including the underground water tunnel. You can take one of two routes here; the dry one or one where you wade through water up to 2 feet deep. There is a great deal to see.
