The Museum has on display collections of original ancient instruments and proposes a fascinating tour that incorporates unique interactive content using hi-tech. Here you can experience the creation of this tradition in an exciting tour guided by "Grandpa Levy", an animated character who accompanies the tour with explanations and information about the instruments and liturgical and other songs from the various Diasporas. Grandpa Levy will take you on a journey full of experiences across the seven main Diasporas that were milestones in the creation of this musical tradition. Each Diaspora enjoys its own space, impressively and unusually designed that exactly complements the tour.

The exhibits are of the musical instruments that Jewish people have taken with them throughout, and/or adopted during the diaspora BUT the most compelling aspect of this museum is that you can hear ALL of the instruments being played in the historic context of hebrew...More

I was looking forward to a museum where I would learn about the development of Jewish music. I thought I would learn about different genres and maybe hear snippets of music throughout the ages. Wouldn't it even be fun to have an exhibit about Jewish...More

We booked a private tour for our family. The museum is designed beautifully and our guide was knowledgeable and very talented (played on some of the musical instruments). We enjoyed playing the instruments together as a band. Too bad that the last VR exhibition about...More

This a most beautifully appointed museum in the old Joel Solomon district of Jerusalem which is pedestrian only. This old building has been refurbished beautifully and tastefully in Moroccan style. It contains ancient instruments from many parts of the globe. The guided tours can be...More

Lots of impressive technology, with iPad curation, virtual reality temple simulation and gimmicky games. However, it was difficult to navigate your way around and there was no explanation of the history or significance of Jewish music over time. It was also depressing that women had...More

This museum is relatively new. The exotic instruments and history are explained while using modern technology.

Interesting and high tech, beautiful facility but the exhibits basically left me bored. It would have been much more successful had they incorporated actual videos and individuals or small groups playing the instruments. This was done for a limited number of the instruments. A highlight...More

We went on a Friday morning. We were worried that there would be no Englidh speaking tour guide but it was absolutely unnecessary. The iPad's they give you for the self tour are fantastic. And the grand finale was the virtual reality depiction of the...More

So here is an interesting place to visit that was on our list for a while- and we did it in the days before the Passover holiday. It was OK- but other than identifying the instrument and where it is from, no information is provided,...More
