If you are visiting the Nativity Church and if you have still time it is interesting to visit the Mosque. If you have to reschedule your program to visit the Mosque it is not worth it. Enjoy!

Very nice Mosque. It's very peaceful and open to all to visit. Separate prayer areas obviously for male and female. Some begging outside which is a problem.

Our guide told us the history of this mosque. It has a prominent location on the grounds donated to Muslims by the Greek Orthodox Church.

To me, the Mosque of Omar stands as a symbol of religious co-existence. Apparently it was built on lands donated by the Greek Orthodox Church to the Muslims, but the most crucial point is that it is the only Muslim shrine of worship in the Old City of Bethlehem.

The Mosque of Omar has a gracious presence on Manager Square with is beautiful exterior flanked by two palm trees. Inside its prayer rooms are on the second floors and are small spaces considering such a significant Muslim population in Bethlehem. There is a women's prayer room for Quranic studies.

The hours are posted out front if you want to visit the inside.
Take your shoes off and place in the bins to the right after entering.
If a female make sure to bring a scarf to cover your head.
The land the Mosque is on was donated by the Greek Orthodox church, it is worth reading a little on the history.

We ran out of time to check out the mosque. But it looks lovely from the outside.. I heard the call for prayer just after being done with my tour of the Church of Nativity. Peacefully co-existing with the church among it's people.. Clearly, religion is all about love, not war. :)
