We thought this would be a quick visit but in actual fact it deserves a lot more of your time. The grounds are well tended to. It was a relief on a hot day and we found some nice shaded parts. We visited the cistern whilst there.

Close to archeology museum and TopKapi palace, besides lots of benches, two water features, shade and on can buy an ice cream before entering and catch your breath before doing down the station or connecting to next tram.

Go there after a long day touring sultanahmet and sit on a bench and enjoy the beautiful big trees and serene nature. This park is connected to topkapi and you can access it from Gulhane and another entrance closer to the sea! Try to go during spring because there would be TULIPS

My intention to visit Gulhane Park was to find the cistern, the ruins of Orphanage of Hagios Paulos (still being debated if this is the place), and Column of Goth! There I could find easily! These spots are definitely lesser-known interesting spots - heritage from Byzantium era.
