While Ismoil Somoni 's capital was Bukhara the map behind the statute try to suggest that Dushnabe was the heart of the Samanid empire. Having said that it is worth having a look if you are in Dushanbe.

Very impressive statue located in a square with a large number of fountains right in front of the Parliament. There always are large number of young student carrying national flags at the time of visit. Also there are visits of family with young children, elderly.

This is an impressive monument and I would think all tourist groups would see it. Nice at night. The area is certainly worth seeing-several other good things to see.

You had better visit in the morning and avoid to drop by here after 2 PM. This is because of the direction of the sun.

It is a statue of the founder of Tajikistani statehood, Shah Ismail Samani (Isma'il ibn Ahmad) of Samanid dynasty (849-907AD). The statue was commissioned in 1999 following celebrations in the honour of the 1100-year anniversary of the Tajikistani Persian statehood.
