Hmm, it's OK, but not worth going out of your way to see. Sadly, it is no longer near the sea due to a massive land reclamation project. In my opinion, Colombo needs to be careful not to over-modernise; for it could lose much of...More

The present lighthouse was built in 1952 but these days it is far from the sea as the government is reclaiming it by filling the area with sand. There is nothing but sand all around the area as workers are busy developing the area. There...More

This lighthouse, which is perhaps 60 years old, seems to have come down in the world as a landmark. It is curiously buried in an area in which a lot of port construction has occurred, which leaves one imagining how it might have been at...More

Me and my besties select this place to have a good look at the goldern hours as we are sunset fans, and this place never stop to amuse us. We visited this place many times, and it gives us a good view of Colombo city,...More

This lighthouse is actually an important monument in the city of Colombo and would have been wonderful when it commanded imposing views of the Indian Ocean. Today the whole of this area is a huge construction zone with new hotels springing up alongside retail developments...More

The title really says it This lovely landmark was one adjacent to the sea as a reminder of the important part it played in maritime navigation Now with the destruction of this area via reclamation works this proud monument will be dwarfed by a port...More

The best customer service ever. The food was marvellous. I would like to thank Chameera, Ratnam, Dilan and Piyankara for their excellent service while we were there. We would like to visit again. Beautiful sea view from our room. I would recommend this hotel to...More

Quite an underwhelming destination. My tuk tuk dropped me off here, and it’s in the middle of a giant construction zone. Though photography is prohibited, the kind guard allowed me to snap a few pics on my phone. As others have pointed out, the armed...More

It’s a pretty but small lighthouse but now it overlooks sand and construction zones. The armed soldier on top impaired the mood although he was very friendly. You should come up this street anyway to climb the stupa 100m further on.

Only for the lovely lighthouse we wouldn't have driven here but as part of our exploring it was nice to see it. Not far away from the maritime museum and the sambodhi chaithya temple.
